'My philosophy or approach as an engineer...is to leave as few sonic fingerprints as possible on the projects I'm hired to work. I see my job as helping the artist to sound as much him or herself as I'm able... I mean, in the end the client is the boss, and if they actually ASK for my recommendations I'll gladly give them. But it's not really my place to leave pieces of myself all over somebody's art, now, is it. That seems presumptuous and a mite rude. I'll work alongside the artist, and guide them toward their desired sound. If that happens to be lo-fi, mono surf-rock, then so be it: you'll get a record that sounds like a Beach Boys 7".
