Can we talk about this?

Why does it feel like you have to be “difficult” just to get your child support in special education?

I see it all the time.

The parents who ask questions get labeled.
The ones who push get results.
And everyone else is stuck trying to “be nice” while their child waits.

That shouldn’t be the trade-off.

I’ve sat in those meetings as the teacher, the admin and I’ve seen what actually moves things forward.

I’m curious, have you ever felt like you had to choose between being “easy to work with” and being taken seriously?

Tell me your experience ⬇️

Black parents this is your IEP power move.

Stop saying, “Can we try?”
Start saying: “I want that documented in the IEP.”

Because once it’s written, it’s enforceable.

That one sentence can change what your child actually receives.

Something to think about! is real asked if your child has an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) more than likely the class is covered by an uncertified staff person with an emergency certification.

Parents of students with disabilities: When is the last time your school had a parent meeting outside of the IEP to discuss programs available to your children?
