A few weeks ago, a client told me, “I have a great career, strong credentials, and tons of experience… but my LinkedIn messages rarely get responses. What am I missing?”
I took one look at her profile and knew the answer. 𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀...𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘁.
The experience section read like a resume. The posts were polished but impersonal. There was nothing that hinted at who she was as a leader, a thinker, or a person.
𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Before they accept a request or respond to a message, they’re looking at more than your credentials. They want to know:
🔹 What do you stand for?
🔹 What’s your business philosophy?
🔹 Why do you do what you do?
One of the simplest ways to create an immediate connection? 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻. Your 'About' section is the perfect place to tell your story in your own words.
When you share your experiences, insights, and lessons learned in your own voice, your profile and content become more engaging, relatable, and human.
Because at the end of the day, LinkedIn isn’t just a platform for job searching, it’s a platform for relationship building. And relationships start with authenticity.
