It’s Giving Tuesday. We’d like to tell you how we are transforming lives. Once upon a time, a 12-year-old, 4 lb. Yorkie found himself in an overcrowded shelter. He was suffering from kidney trouble and dental disease. That is how Hawkeye’s story begins, but it is not how we allowed it to end.
Hawkeye joined our rescue and immediately received a dental. This relieved his pain and greatly improved his quality of life. Through testing it was discovered that Hawkeye had chronic kidney disease so the decision was made to make him one of our very special hospice pups. He was placed into one of our foster homes with lots of experience in this matter and receives the best care. Hawkeye is on a special diet and receives subcutaneous fluids every day. He also takes medication for high blood pressure. In exchange for all this care, Hawkeye is the best watchdog. He barks at strangers and tries to nibble on their toes. (He has no teeth left but we let him think he’s tough!) Hawkeye loves his food (and other people’s) and is happiest in someone’s arms. He’s truly living his best life.
