My company specializes in small batch soy wax candles. I always found the aspect of burning a soy candle to be so calming, and relaxing. From the subtle fragrance filling the room, to the flicker of the flame. As a poor college student, it was difficult for me to find the money to spend on expensive candles. Being a pretty crafty individual, I always tried to come up with DIY ways to solve simple
problems. After discovering a local candle supply store located just outside of the city of Philadelphia, I began taking beginner candle making classes. After my first class, I was immediately hooked! I discovered that not only was it really relaxing to burn a candle, but making candles was just as calming. When I first started pouring candles, I was headed into some of the busiest and most stressful weeks of my college term down at Drexel University. I used candle making as an avenue to relax and de stress myself in between my intense study sessions. After giving away dozens of candles to friends and family, I began thinking about launching my own hand poured soy candle business. After researching the candle industry, I was quite nervous about venturing into such an oversaturated market. I wanted to set my line apart from others by offering high design and superior quality. I used the fast paced urban aspect of Philadelphia as the inspiration for my design. I wanted to produce a candle that offered a modern design but also a strong handmade touch.
