Reel talk: a few members of our development team recently traded door knocking for fishing rods and headed out to the North Fork South Platte River for a day of great fishing! Fresh air, good company, and some solid catches made for the perfect break from the daily grind.

Last week’s severe storms brought heavy rainfall and flooding to communities across Northwest Indiana, damaging homes, roads and other property and leaving many residents facing a difficult cleanup and recovery. In Pulaski County, home to 900 MW of the 1.3 GW Mammoth Solar project, the storm dropped 8 inches of rain in less than 12 hours, with some locations reporting more than 10 inches, while winds reached as high as 75 mph.

By the next morning, our incredible construction team was already in action, supporting Pulaski County’s recovery efforts.

Working across several areas of the county, the team helped repair sinkholes and washed-out roads, remove fallen trees and debris, grade damaged roads and address other storm-related cleanup needs. The repair work was completed at multiple locations, with additional grading performed on roads throughout the Mammoth Solar project area.

For a team that has spent years working alongside Pulaski County and its residents, stepping in when help was needed was an easy decision. We’re incredibly proud of our team for showing what it means to be part of the communities where we work — not only when we’re building projects, but when our neighbors need a hand.

When people rush to criticize solar projects, they often ignore what we view as the core component of a project's success: the landowners and farmers behind it, who choose to participate. Farmers choose to participate in solar projects for a variety of reasons. For Billy and Amy Bopes, a 3rd generation family of farmers in Northwest Indiana, it was in order to save their farm and keep it in the family. Throughout their journey with us, they have evolved their farming expertise into a brand new industry: solar grazing. Today, they are leading our efforts at the 400 MW Mammoth North Solar project, maximizing the use of their land and paving the way for a new generation of agrivoltaics farmers!

What to expect when expecting... sheep? A couple of weeks ago, members of the Doral team set out to find out! We attended a one-day Solar Grazing Management Certification Course presented by Solar Grazing Association and American Lamb Board diving into the challenges and dynamics of grazing management.

The best part? Getting out in the field to see agrivoltaics in action at our Mammoth North solar farm. From sheep to pigs to natural pollinators, it was a joy to see firsthand what all our daily work truly builds. 🌱

There's nothing quite like celebrating with the people who make our projects possible! Last week, we got to do just that with our Buckheart Solar landowners at a fantastic celebration hosted at Old Dog LLC, complete with great food, fun games, and giveaways. We shared updates on what's next, and even better, we got to celebrate reaching another huge milestone in our permitting process together!

Solar grazing is on the rise — and we just helped train the next flock of experts.

This past week we were proud to host a 3-day training for 45 solar graziers and aspiring graziers from across the region, bringing together farmers, land managers, and renewable energy folks all in one place. Experts from the American Lamb Board and the Solar Grazing Association, along with experienced graziers from 5 states, led a deep dive into the ins and outs of solar grazing — sharing real, hands-on knowledge for building this growing corner of agriculture.

Two days of classroom learning were followed by a site tour of an active solar grazing operation right here on our own Mammoth North Solar Farm. And the sheep aren't grazing alone — the site is also home to pasture pigs, poultry, honey bees, rabbits, guardian dogs, and guardian geese, all part of a thriving, working landscape.

This is what agriculture and renewable energy working together looks like — productive land, stronger farming communities, and a whole flock of graziers learning from each other. We're proud to be growing this movement right here in our own backyard.

Last week, our Mackinaw Solar team successfully filled our local office in Manito, IL for the Public Open House! We enjoyed connecting with our landowners, answering insightful questions from local community members, and welcoming countless new faces. A huge thank you to Travelin' Tom's Coffee for ensuring everyone stayed energized and to our subject matter experts for offering detailed answers to questions throughout the event!

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a unique three-day Solar Grazing Management Certification Workshop at our Mammoth Solar site in partnership with the American Solar Grazing Association ASGA and the American Lamb Board.

Farmers, grazers, solar professionals, and members of the Doral Renewables team came together from across the country to explore best practices for integrating livestock with solar energy. Through hands-on learning, thoughtful discussions, and the exchange of real-world experience, the workshop highlighted how collaboration can help strengthen both agriculture and energy production.
