In Montgomery County, nearly 85,000 people—about one in ten residents—face uncertainty about their next meal. But together, we can change this story. The Montgomery County Food Saver Challenge gives us a chance to make a real difference. Backed by the Montgomery County Food Policy Council, this initiative empowers food businesses to fight waste, reduce their carbon footprint, boost food security, and redirect surplus food to those in need, all while competing for a $5,000 prize.
Yesterday, the room buzzed with energy as community leaders shared their passion and vision. Our local businesses are the heartbeat of Montgomery County, and by joining forces, we can create lasting, sustainable systems.
Thank you, Ebru Coffee Co., for hosting the press event, and thank you to Jamila H. Winder, Share Food Program, and Mother Compost - Organic Waste Recycling Service for your remarks on the importance of this challenge and your roles in it. We appreciate everyone’s work in putting this together!
Are you a local food business ready to reduce food waste and food insecurity? Apply for the Food Saver Challenge before August 31st through the link in our bio and be part of the solution!
