after running a social media management business for a hot minute, i’ve made a couple of mistakes over the years 😅

you live and you learn, am i right??

here’s five of my biggest mistakes that i wished someone told me when i first started ((because it would’ve saved me a TON of time from stressing))::

✨ always back things up, babes!!

if you’re thinking, “but isn’t that what auto-save is for??” …yeah, that’s what i thought too 🥹 take it from someone who learned the hard way ((and lost a lot of work)) this year

✨ no is underrated

sometimes you have to turn down opportunities working with someone because you don’t vibe and guess what?? that’s okay 🤷🏻‍♀️ just trust your gut and remember that turning down an opportunity just means you’re opening yourself up to better ones!!

✨ i can’t stress this enough:: charge your worth

girl, no more lowballing ourselves just so someone will want to work with us!! always remember:: your work should always reflect your value and you’re the only one who truly knows what you’re capable of ++ what you’re worth

✨ say goodbye to the red flags… NOW

if you’re finding that someone’s actions aren’t matching up with their words, let’s just say you should be sticking around for that third red flag… 🚩 this is not to say that you shouldn’t give people the benefit of the doubt and some grace, but two red flags?? RUN.

✨ i’m all for social media detoxes ((yes, this is coming from a social media manager))

i’ve experienced firsthand how over-consuming the internet can lead to burnout 😩 so if you need a day or two off, take it!! your business won’t crumble, and i promise whatever is happening online will still be there tomorrow 🫶🏼

with the new year officially in full swing, i found myself spending the last few days of 2024 reflecting on everything i’ve learned 👀

as a social media manager, it is literally my job to manage accounts for my clients, which often means i don’t get to prioritize posting on my own account ((ironic, i know))

i even started the year by planning and creating posts right before they’d go live, just to make sure i posted something that day

but as the year went on, i quickly realized that posting without a plan and intention wasn’t going to get me to where i envision myself or my business 💅🏼

i decided to start planning my content with the goal of not only posting things i was proud of, but also creating content that resonated with my audience

showing up consistently and intentionally opened so many doors and the opportunity to finally enjoy the life i worked so hard to build 🥹

you shouldn’t be having to sacrifice time away from what you value most in life just to keep your business running
