Not every organizing project starts with pretty bins and labels.

Sometimes it starts with dusty shelves, car parts, and clearing just enough space to walk through.

I started working on this storage shed for a friend, and these are the early in-progress photos. I actually forgot to take pictures before I started because I jumped right into clearing a walkway.

The first full day was about 8 hours of cleaning up, clearing out, and sorting. We started by removing trash, boxes, bins, and car parts that had been scattered across the shelves and floor. The main goal for day one was simple: get as much out of the shed as possible so we could actually see what was there.

From there, we started setting up sorting stations:

Owner review pile

That owner review pile is important because some things need a final yes or no from the person who owns the space. My job is not to come in and toss everything. My job is to help make the process less overwhelming, create order, and build a system that actually works.

The goal for this shed is to turn the chaos into a functional space for storing tools and auto parts, while also giving the owner a usable workshop.

This is the part of organizing you don’t always see.

Before the final reveal, there is sorting, moving, decision-making, grouping, and a whole lot of dust.

Summer is right around the corner, which means the kids will be home more, the snacks will disappear faster, and somehow the house will feel busy before the day even starts.

Something I learned after years of working as a household manager and family assistant…

Most homes don’t need a complete overhaul. They just need a few things to function better and run more smoothly.

Over the years, I’ve helped with everything from full kitchen organization projects (overflowing cabinets, pantry clean-outs, fridge resets, junk drawers that turned into catch-alls) to closet and dresser overhauls, playroom clean-outs, and bathrooms that needed a fresh system.

It’s not just about organization, it’s about creating systems that actually make sense for the family. Systems that are easy to maintain and can grow as life changes.

I’ve worked with families who wanted to keep it simple and use what they already had, and others who wanted to invest in more customized systems. Either way, the goal is always the same: making the home feel more manageable and less overwhelming.

That’s a big part of why I started Caffeinated Chaos. The goal is simple: helping busy homes manage the chaos. And honestly, just one area can make a huge difference.
