In honor of cultural icon, Biz Markie, we’re sharing his throwback interview “11 Things You Don’t Know About Biz Markie” from our original StylePHX website 🖤

and his most memorable hit "Just a Friend" have stuck in DJ spins, iPod playlists, commercials, and clubs throughout the 80's, 90's and now 2000's. His sense of humor, unforgettable face and continuous play make this rapper one to remember, and "Just a Friend" made the list on Vh1's 100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs of All Time (rightfully so). After five studio albums (*at the time of the interview about a decade ago), nine compilations, and spots on TV shows, commercials and movies, the Clown Prince of Hip Hop spent a few moments sharing with us a few things we don't know about him.

11 things you don't know about Biz Markie:

1. Biz Markie's favorite toy as a kid was Johnny Lightning Cars.

2. His favorite musicians are his father (played sax), James Brown and Elton John.

3. If he wasn't in the music industry he'd have been a comedian (not surprisingly...his humor has always been evident in his music).

4. The best moment in his career was making his first record "Make The Music".

5. If he could be one TV/movie character he would be Benny Hill (The Benny HIll Show).

6. He sleeps with his head at the foot of the bed.

7. His favorite superhero is Gigantor because...he's just like him (clearly).

8. He doesn't have a favorite color...he's an equal color opporunist and likes all 13 the same.

9. His favorite flavor of gum is Wrigley's Juicy Fruit.

10. The first concert he went to was Crash Crew, Master Don and Boogie Boys at Rappers Disco in Belport, LI.

11. His happiest moment was when he was on his "Just A Friend" tour.
