7 seconds. That’s how long I spent on your resume if it ever crossed my desk at Amazon.
I reviewed over 10,000 resumes in my career. And the number one thing I saw job seekers get wrong wasn’t the format, the font, or the template: it was putting the right information in the wrong place.
Here’s what I was actually doing in those 7 seconds:
☕ Where did you work and what was your title
☕ Can I skim this without my eyes crossing
☕ Is there ONE number that makes me slow down
That’s the whole scan.
“Grew Instagram followers from 4,000 to 40,000 in 8 months” stops me.
“Responsible for managing social media accounts” does not.
The difference between getting called and getting passed over is usually not your experience, it’s knowing where to put it.
Until next time,
