Bug of the Month: Cicadas!
Cicadas are one of the loudest insects you'll find in the Valley during June! As temperatures soar, these noisy bugs emerge from the ground and fill the air with their unmistakable summer soundtrack. ☀️

Did you know? A male cicada's buzz can reach nearly 100 decibels, that's about as loud as a motorcycle! They use their powerful calls to attract mates during the hottest days of the year.

🐛 Bug of the Month: Caterpillars! 🐛
Caterpillars are popping up all over the Valley in May as plants and trees hit peak growth. You’ll often spot them munching on leaves in gardens, landscaped areas, and around community spaces.

Did you know? Caterpillars actually have more muscles than humans, over 4,000 compared to our 600! 💪 That’s what helps them move in that signature inching motion.

🦗 Bug of the Month: Grasshoppers! 🦗
No April Fools here... grasshoppers are the real deal this time of year in the Valley! As temperatures warm up, these jumpy pests start popping up around HOA communities, especially in turf, landscaped areas, and open spaces.

Did you know young grasshoppers hatch in spring and start feeding right away? While they may seem harmless at first, they can quickly grow and cause noticeable damage to grass and ornamental plants if left unchecked.

🪰 Bug of the Month: Lacewings! 🪰

Lacewings may look delicate, but they love showing up around Valley homes this time of year! As temps warm up in March, these light-green flyers are drawn to porch lights and patio areas at night.

Did you know lacewings are actually beneficial insects? 🌿 Their larvae feed on aphids and other plant pests but that doesn’t make it any less annoying when they gather around your doors and windows.
🌵 Keep the bugs outside where they belong! If you’re seeing swarms around your home or community, Spring is the perfect time to seal up gaps before numbers increase.
