Hard to believe summer is almost over and in Arizona, school will be starting soon. The discipline that school involves from K-18 and then college promotes growth. Each year students are challenged to learn something new, enhance their knowledge and develop their interpersonal skills/behavior. For some reason, this discipline of learning, challenging and growing shifts when people enter careers. Yes, they are learning something new and their knowledge is growing exponentially in their profession/industry.. And initially there is usually a lot of training and development. It's when leaders are moving up to the senior and C-Suite levels that the real challenges come out. Now, they aren't doing the work - they are managing the work and need to inspire others to reach their highest potential. If team or business performance is not where it needs to be, the opportunity is for the leaders to begin the hard work of challenging themselves as leadership effectiveness, like water, flows downstream.
