“I’m too new, I don’t have an audience”

I dunno ‘bout you...

But I am literally unemployable.

Not because I can’t work hard (trust me, I can).

Not because I don’t have the skills.

But because the idea of trading my freedom for a paycheck is enough to make my skin crawl.

To be forced away from my kids because it’s “office hours”?
To spend 40+ hours per week building someone else’s dream, while mine sits on the back burner?
To live my whole life waiting for Friday or my 12 days of vacation per year?

Umm yeah, no thanks.

To me, that kind of lifestyle is a total mind-f**k and no salary in the world would make it worth it.

Before Sara Blakely turned Spanx into a billion-dollar empire, she heard “no” more times than she could count.

Every hosiery mill and manufacturer that Sara approached shut her down. The decision-makers (mostly older men) couldn’t see the potential:

Huh?! A footless pantyhose product? Nobody will want that.

Sara’s gut told her that friends and family wouldn’t support the idea either. So for the first year, she kept it a secret.

When she finally did tell people, they responded just as she had predicted.

One person said:

“Sweetie, if it’s such a good idea, why hasn’t somebody else done it?”

Another warned:

“Even if it’s a good idea, you’re gonna spend your savings on it and the big guys will just knock you off 6 months later and you’ll be done.”

Even though nobody around her supported the idea…

Sara’s intuition told her that women needed this product because she herself did. So she persevered. And eventually turned Spanx into the billion-dollar business that it is today.

Not only that, but she went on to become the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire.

If she had listened to logic (and the naysayers), Spanx wouldn’t exist today.

And Sara’s story is just one of many…

History is full of leaders who trusted their intuition (even when it seemed irrational) and ended up creating something that the world didn’t even realize it was waiting for.

Like Oprah. Who ignored every warning not to take over a failing Chicago talk show. And instead followed her inner voice, transforming it into The Oprah Winfrey Show, one of the most successful programs in television history.

Or Steve Jobs. Who developed the revolutionary touch-screen concept for the iPhone based purely on intuition, not market research.
