Arizona Technology Access Program (AzTAP)

Arizona Technology Access Program (AzTAP) We connect Arizonans with disabilities with the assistive technology they need. We offer a comprehensive set of programs and services including:
1.

A program of Northern Arizona University's Institute for Human Development, AzTAP was created in 1994 and serves as Arizona's Assistive Technology Act program. While our office is located in central Phoenix, our services are available statewide and our staff regularly travels to all regions of the state. Like all Assistive Technology Act Programs, AzTAP is committed to improving the availability o

f assistive technology (AT) devices and services to individuals with disabilities and their families. To that end, we offer a wide variety of comprehensive, statewide activities that make assistive technology devices and services more available and accessible to anyone who may need it in our state. Our programming emphasizes direct services to consumers (persons with disabilities/family members) and service providers from the fields of education, vocational rehabilitation, health care and human services. We also work to raise awareness about assistive technology to the general public. Demonstrating AT devices from our inventories of approximately 4000 AT-related products.
2. Lending out devices for short term use.
3. Consulting with clients to help them select and obtain technology that matches their unique individualized needs.
4. Operating an online equipment re-use program.
5. Providing affordable financial loans to help people buy the technology they need.
6. Offering training, educational programs and technical assistance.
7. Hosting Arizona's only statewide AT conference annually.

* AzTAP operates under the mandate of the Assistive Technology Act of 1998 as Amended (P.L. 108-364). AzTAP receives the majority of its funding from the US Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) under the State Grant for Assistive Technology Program (SGAT - CFDA #84.224A).

From Twinkle to Wrinkle – Assistive Technology supports people throughout the lifespan!

Assistive Technology is not just about disability – it’s about independence at every stage of life. This includes people who have temporary, intermittent, and progressive disabilities. It also includes those aging into disability and those who do not yet identify as having a disability!

Assistive Technology devices include early intervention communication tools, learning supports in school, workplace accommodations, and aging-in-place technologies.
