VSS Security Services On-Site Security Guard Services

The leadership of VSS Security Services takes pride in understanding the importance of our clients' expectations.

"Our corporate buying power enables us to provide our officers with the finest equipment available so they may perform all necessary tasks to the best of their ability." It is our goal to provide our clients quality, depth of resources, experience and flexibility. In order to meet these expectations on a daily basis, we rely on the services of our VSS account representative or a qualified member o

f our internal staff. Our philosophy drives us to offer a professional and businesslike approach in order to meet your expectations. VSS representatives consistently visit properties and our on-duty officer(s) to ensure that we are maintaining our commitment to you. During the inspection of the property, a meeting with the VSS officer will occur. With the assistance of our on-site officer, an inspection of the property will ensue. Additionally, a series of questions are asked of the officer(s) on duty to ensure that their required knowledge of the property meets your/our standards. Depending on the outcome, a follow-up visit may be necessary with the officer(s). Training and Screening:

VSS Security Services will not place an officer on duty until he or she is competent and certified in the areas of federal, state and local laws, power of arrest, basic first aid and report writing. We achieve this by exceeding all state-required training. All applicants must submit a resume, which becomes our first level of screening. Minimum requirements for all new VSS hires include:

Must pass a written exam
Must pass a drug and alcohol screening
Must clear a federal and state background check
Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must be able to fluently read, write and speak English
Must be a U.S. citizen or possess legal federal documentation. (E-Verify is utilized by VSS)
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must verify employment for the last 5 years
Must have dependable transportation

If the applicant meets these minimum standards, an interview is scheduled and our three-step, detailed screening process begins. These steps include, submit a resume, interview with the branch manager to discuss potential opportunities within our organization and meeting with our scheduling manager to select a job site that meets the officer's requirements and capabilities. After completion, all applicants take part in the comprehensive 12-part Basic Security Officer Training series. In addition to the in-house training provided by VSS, continuous on-site training is provided at no additional cost to the client. VSS provides our senior security officers with additional training every six months with emphasis on communication and management skills. This program is designed to improve self-image, how to deal with confrontational situations and customer complaints and how to team with other officers to improve performance. These policies and procedures plus a strong commitment to quality are what set VSS Security Services apart from other security companies. Supervision:

VSS believes field supervision is one of the most critical elements essential to the well-being of our organization and, most importantly, our customers. Essentially, our field supervisors have to earn this position and most earn this by being promoted. Officers in this roll are assigned because they have displayed the proper characteristics through hard work, dedication and a true respect for our industry. Once this is accomplished, they go through additional training. The training provided to all VSS field supervisors is without equal. It includes scheduling, first aid, public relations, report writing and leadership training. Field Supervisors visit assigned areas, making periodic stops at all standing guard locations on a nightly basis. VSS supervisors take a unique approach to the job at hand and it begins with the site inspection form. The supervisor assesses several key elements during the encounter with the on-site officer, including factors such as appearance, job knowledge, alertness and report writing. If any deficiencies are identified during the evaluation, they are immediately addressed by the supervisor. The following shift worked by this officer will include another inspection by a supervisor to ensure the officer is in compliance with the site requirements.
