My own dog had surgery this week, and despite being a veterinarian, I still found myself checking her incision constantly and worrying over every little thing.

It was a good reminder that when our pets are hurting, we’re all just people who love them 🥹

One of my favorite parts of being a house call veterinarian is helping families through the recovery process. The surgery may happen at the hospital, but the healing happens at home 💜🐾

Rambo may look a little unsure here, but he actually did so well! 💜

One of my favorite things about home visits is watching pets settle in and realize they don’t have to go anywhere scary! They get to stay in their favorite spot, surrounded by the people they love, and we can take things at their pace.

Rambo’s mom is a veterinarian herself and also a busy mom to human kiddos, so having care come to her was one less thing to juggle. I love being able to make veterinary care a little more comfortable and a little more convenient for families like theirs! 💜

Pugsley and I have a history, but today was our first visit in his home! 🏡🐾

The reunion included lots of treats, lap time, and all the reasons I love house call medicine. We started hormone replacement therapy to help support his weight loss journey, mobility, and cognitive function.
