🚗⚠️ OUR POPULATION IS GROWING. OUR TRAFFIC IS GROWING. ARE OUR ROADS KEEPING UP?

Distracted driving is a major safety issue—but safer roads require more than asking drivers to put down their phones.

As communities grow, state and local governments need to make sure our infrastructure grows with them.

🏙️ Track population growth
🚦 Study changing traffic patterns
🛣️ Improve dangerous roads and intersections
💡 Add better lighting and signage
🚧 Upgrade infrastructure BEFORE accidents increase
📊 Use real traffic and crash data to identify problem areas

We should be asking our leaders: Are we planning roads for the population we had 10 years ago—or the population we have today?

Government has a responsibility to build and maintain safer roads.

Drivers have a responsibility, too.

📵 Put the phone down.
👀 Keep your eyes on the road.
❤️ Protect the people sharing it with you.

Safer roads + safer drivers = safer communities.

🚨 HOW TOUGH DO THE LAWS HAVE TO GET BEFORE WE PUT THE PHONE DOWN? 📵

Connecticut is strengthening its distracted-driving laws October 1—and there’s a reason this issue keeps getting more attention.

According to NHTSA, 3,208 people were killed in distraction-involved crashes in 2024.

At 55 mph, looking at your phone for just 5 seconds is like driving the length of a football field with your eyes closed.

No text is worth a life.
No notification is worth a life.
Put the phone down.

This is why I wrote Citizen’s Prey and why I continue speaking out about distracted driving.

🚨 THE FIRST STEP IS AWARENESS. 🚨

Distracted driving continues to take lives and change families forever. 💔📱🚗

Think about what awareness has done in the fight against breast cancer. 🎀 We may never eliminate every case of cancer, but decades of awareness, education, screening, and prevention have helped people recognize the risks, take action, and save lives.

I believe we need that same level of awareness around distracted driving.

📵 Put the phone down.
👀 Keep your eyes on the road.
🗣️ Talk to your children, family, and friends.
❤️ Remind the people you love that one distracted moment can change everything.

We may not prevent every distracted-driving tragedy—but if greater awareness causes even one person to put down their phone, make a different choice, and arrive home safely, it matters.

Awareness leads to action. Action can save a life.

🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET — 25 YEARS LATER 🇺🇸

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation.

Nearly 3,000 souls were lost that day. Behind every number was a person—a mother, father, son, daughter, spouse, friend, coworker, or loved one whose absence is still felt today.

Grief never fully goes away when you lose someone you love. ❤️

As we remember and honor those who lost their lives on that fateful day, we also remember the families who have carried that loss for 25 years.

Let today be a reminder to hug your loved ones a little tighter. Tell them you love them. Treasure the time you have together.

And when you get behind the wheel, please put the phone down.

❤️ A life cannot be replaced.

One distracted moment can leave a family grieving for a lifetime.
