Accountability gets talked about a lot. The harder question is whetheranyone can actually tell you who owns the problem when something goes wrong.

On a complex project, missed deadlines are not always caused by engineering, weather, or supply chain issues. Sometimes the real problem is simpler: responsibility is spread across too many subcontractors and scope layers.

At GenPro, accountability means clear ownership. Someone should be able to answer the question, “Who owns this?” without passing it somewhere else.

Because if no one owns the problem, the problem usually owns the schedule.

Processes matter. But so do the people trusted to use them.

At GenPro, we believe the best teams know when to follow the playbook, when to ask questions, and when the situation calls for judgment.

That’s why we don’t just hire for experience on paper. We look for people who take ownership, keep their word, make good decisions, and can be trusted to do the right thing when no one is standing over their shoulder.

Too much process can get in the way. Too little creates inconsistency.

The goal is both: strong standards and strong people.

Because a great process with the wrong team can still fail. A great team will find a way forward.

Good processes should help good people make better decisions. They shouldn’t prevent them from making decisions at all.

At GenPro, we believe consistency matters. Standards matter. Processes matter.

But construction doesn’t happen in a perfect environment where every situation looks exactly like the one the procedure was written for.

That’s why we put just as much emphasis on the people behind the process.

We look for people who use good judgment, take ownership, do what they say they’ll do, and can recognize when the situation in front of them requires more than simply checking a box.

Because there are two ways to get this wrong:

Too much process, and capable people can’t do their jobs.

Too little process, and nobody does the job the same way twice.

Congratulations to Larry Zich on his promotion to Senior Construction Manager!

Larry joined GenPro in 2020 as a Heavy Equipment Operator and has continued to take on new challenges ever since, serving as Mechanical Lead, Site Lead, Construction Supervisor, and Construction Manager.

He has also helped build GenPro’s first dedicated mechanical crew and played an important role in growing our in-house civil construction capabilities. Today, Larry helps provide leadership across our Civil, Pile Installation, and Mechanical Operations.

Big congratulations to Cody Anderson on his promotion to Senior Construction Manager!

Cody has been part of GenPro since 2011, when he joined us as an Apprentice Electrician while still in high school. Since then, he has become a Journeyman Electrician and served in roles including Construction Supervisor and Project Manager.

Now he’s bringing all of that experience back to Field Operations, where he’ll help lead our Electrical Operations.

From apprentice to senior leader, it has been pretty incredible to watch Cody grow with GenPro over the past 15 years.

Congratulations, Cody! We’re excited for this next chapter.
