The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southeastern Martin County in northeastern Kentucky...
North Central Pike County in southeastern Kentucky...

* Until 1230 AM EDT.

* At 941 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible
in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Hatfield Station, Rural, Whitepost, Laura, Conder, Oppy, Pilgrim
and Coalpoint.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following
counties, Breathitt, Floyd, Knott, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin,
Perry and Pike.

* WHEN...Until 300 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1146 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pikeville, Hazard, Whitesburg, Hindman, Letcher, Estill,
Bath, Jenkins, Elkhorn City, Wheelwright, Fleming-Neon, Pippa
Passes, Wayland, Vicco, Blackey, Kite, Hollybush, Topmost,
Raven and Dry Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between midnight and 1am, then a chance of showers after 1am. Patchy fog after 1am. Low around 60. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 80. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

DAY ONE... Today and tonight.

An isolated severe storm is possible into the evening with the potential for damaging wind gusts or a brief tornado.

Heavy downpours and training of storms could also lead to localized flooding today and tonight.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN... Saturday through Thursday.

Thunderstorms and times of heavy rain are possible through the period.
