~~~WOOD ANGELS OPENING DAY INFORMATION FOR 26-27 WINTER SEASON~~~
We know we know its still in the 90's and it's hard to think about firewood so early, but it is almost that time of year again.
We will start screening applicants starting September 1st again this year, to get a jump on the bad weather.
A few things to keep in mind when calling:
The purpose of the Wood Angels is to provide free firewood to seniors, low-income, and disabled residents of Amador County that are in need and struggling to stay warm in the winter. Basically, those who cannot physically nor financially obtain it for themselves.
We provide a single truckload of mixed types of wood. Granted, we are very generous with our deliveries, especially when our supply is plentiful, however, we are not able to deliver multiple cords of wood to a single residence any longer. Our program is intended to help get you by until you are able to obtain it on your own. We can no longer supply an entire winters worth of wood to any home. We just simply have too many requests.
We delivered just under 300 loads again last year. Please be patient with us, it could be a week or so before we get the wood out to you. Also, Please try not to wait till it snows to call. In the event of a giant storm please understand if youāre snowed in, we probably are too. Be patient and we will get to you as soon as we can.
In efforts to continue streamlining our program, please be prepared to go through an application process, even if you've received wood in the past from us.
Remember, we are 100% volunteers in this organization, from the people who process the wood, to those who load the trucks, to those who bring you the deliveries to the behind-the-scenes administrative staff, to the people answering the phones. We are your community members, be kind and know, we always do our best to get to each and every one of you.

Please know that you will need to leave a message, it is not a manned line, but it is checked regularly. You may also text that phone line as well. The phone line is the best and fastest way to contact us. If you leave a message on Facebook or through our website there may be a significantly longer delay in us responding.
We love our community! The support you have given us to be able to provide for others is tremendous. We are so proud to be part of this community and to have all of you wonderful people as part of ours.
