Be forewarned:

New rules from New York State DMV start in 2026.

A license suspension will come after 10 points in 24 months. The current rule uses 11 points in 18 months. The new system raises points on common violations and adds points to offenses that never had them. Drivers will reach the limit faster.

Key increases
• Speeding up to 10 mph over the limit goes from 3 points to 4.
• Using a cell phone while driving goes from 5 points to 6.
• Failure to yield to a pedestrian goes from 3 points to 5.
• Reckless driving jumps from 5 points to 8.
• Speeding in a construction zone adds more points for even small overages.

New violations that now add points
• Equipment problems such as broken tail lights or bad headlights now add 1 point.
• Illegal U-turns add 2 points.
• Obstructing traffic adds 2 points.
• Failure to move over for emergency vehicles adds 3 points.

Nobody on Earth, past, present, or multiverse edition, plays hide and seek like Pennsylvania State Troopers. These dudes don’t just sit behind a tree, they become the tree. They drop off the radar like deer with PhDs in invisibility studies. You think you’re just driving down the highway minding your business, and BAM. A charger materializes out of a shrub like it’s been training with forest spirits and camouflaged turkey hunters since the bicentennial.

I’m convinced they don’t get shift briefings, they get side quests. They aren’t “patrolling,” they’re respawning. If you blink, breathe wrong, or take a sip of Sheetz coffee, they’ll fade back into the woods like folklore, and you’ll question if they were ever real or if Pennsylvania just developed sentient police cars that hunt speeders like whisper silent wildlife ninjas.
