1). Human-centered Design and Tactical Innovation: Right-fitting Tools and Integrated Platforms....................................
Systems thinking is at the core of our Human-centered Design and Tactical Innovation practice. It serves as an evidence-based framework for understanding all variables and conditions that impact outcomes, maps the relationships between program stakeholders and the knowledge and tools they need to succeed, and reveals opportunities for tactical innovation.

Collaboration with our human-centered design team is structured to progress through stages of system mapping, evaluation, visioning, strategy, architecture, and iterative design.

Collaboration with our development team is structured around lean startup, rapid prototyping, testing and deployment. Our adaptive tools and integrated platforms form the backbone of effective program management.

2). Visual Communications Design: Empirical Research and Superb Visual Design ....................................
Our communications design group is known for superb visual design and we maintain an active communications research and design practice. Design is both rational and emotional. We utilize an empirical approach to understand target audiences and shape strategic communications to resonate with an implicit call to action.

Building on academic research, we understand how people interact with and respond to visual information. Our design experts create world class branding, messaging, marketing communications, complex information design, behavioral marketing, instructional design, and corporate communications of all types.

The latest: Informatics has completed the design and development of the Title II website for the US Department of Educations flagship initiative. This past winter, we finished several years of work designing and developing the online reporting tools for US ED's Race to the Top Program, and are continuing year 4 of our 5 year contract on i3, their Innovations program. We are beginning Phase II of the web-based health collaboration platform for Health Sciences South Carolina, and wrapping up our data visualization and decision support tool for Syniverse in Tampa.

Informatics Studio is a communications research, user-centered design and technology collaborative that started out of Carnegie Mellon University in 1992. We work with global corporations, government agencies, nonprofits, and NGOs that focus on education, human development and health worldwide.

We utilize systems thinking in solving complex communication and information management challenges through the development of streamlined systems for knowledge management, program administration, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, data visualization, collaboration and community development, training, education, behavioral marketing, and strategic communications.

Systems thinking, also known as design thinking, is a proven methodology for analyzing an entire communication and technology ecosystem from the standpoint of actual users. It identifies system strengths and weaknesses and develops specifications for innovating new and better ways of solving complex challenges of managing, monitoring, and interpreting complex information.
