As promised earlier, here is a video peek into an animation quite different from what we typically create at visual effects studio, Home Run Pictures. Collaborating with painter/sculptor Torkwase Dyson, animator Glen Johnson used Unity software and lots of original code to produce "Tomorrow Was Yesterday," an eight-minute fulldome planetarium visualization to be presented in the Kamin Science Center's Buhl Planetarium as part of the 59th Carnegie International. Dyson is one of the artists in the 59th Carnegie International at Carnegie Museum of Art [] here in Pittsburgh. This is a brief clip from the animation created and a short description of how fulldome is created. The software renders individual circles per frame which represents the dome's 360 degree view... what a dome needs to create the experience. The video is projected with multiple 4K, 60fps video projectors, in this planetarium 10 are used. Viewers then will experience Dyson's sculptural vision of underwater offshore drilling machinery in 8K visual and 5.1 Surround Sound style. The animation represents the result of 8 months of effort.
