♻️ Recycling isn’t always as simple as tossing your soda can in the correct bin.

But it’s just as important to ensure hard-to-recycle items—such as electronics, appliances and tires—are properly disposed of and sustainably processed.

Not only do these items pose dangerous environmental hazards when illegally dumped or placed in landfills, but they often contain valuable materials that can be reclaimed and recycled into innovative, sustainable products.

Community cleanup events provide important opportunities for residents to ensure their hard-to-recycle items wind up in the hands of the folks who can safely and sustainably recycle them, keeping hazardous materials out of the waste stream.

Liberty Tire Recycling recently partnered with Rock Creek Solid Waste, Caltrans District 10, Clean California, and Calaveras County for a cleanup event that helped reduce illegal dumping, keep neighborhoods cleaner, and support a healthier environment while encouraging responsible recycling practices throughout the community.

Thank you for with us in California!

🚨 50,000 Illegally Dumped Tires Highlight Importance of Tire Recycling:

Authorities in Oregon discovered more than 50,000 illegally dumped tires on a property in Southeast last month – one of the largest illegal tire dumps in the history of the region according to local officials.

Illegal tire piles are more than just an eyesore. They pose significant health and environmental hazards, such as:

• Creating breeding grounds for mosquitoes and other pests
• Increasing the risk of dangerous tire fires
• Damaging natural habitats and public spaces
• Creating costly cleanup efforts for local governments and taxpayers

This incident highlights the importance of working with a reputable tire recycler, such Liberty Tire Recycling, to avoid costly cleanups, legal ramifications and environmental damage caused by improper tire disposal.

Ohio EPA director John Logue recently visited Liberty Tire Recycling’s Grove City facility along with Division of Materials and Waste Management staff to discuss responsible tire management in the state.

In the decades since the devastating Kirby tire fire in 1999, Ohio has developed one of the nation’s most comprehensive tire management programs. By coupling strong environmental protections with market-based solutions, the state has established a framework that protects public health and the environment while fostering private sector innovation and investment in sustainable markets.

Liberty is a key partner in Ohio’s tire recycling efforts, transforming the state’s end-of-life tires into innovative, sustainable products, such as Tire-Derived Aggregate (TDA) used in construction and civil engineering projects.

Thank you so much to the Ohio EPA for taking the time to tour our facilities — we are proud to be with you in Ohio!
