s to a strict code of ethics outlined by the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works. AAC is owned and operated by Ana Alba, who obtained her masters in conservation from the Buffalo State College Art Conservation Department, with a specialty in painting conservation.

Our Save America's Treasures grant has been rescinded. Current conservation is made possible by a congressionally approved grant from the Institute of Museum & Library Services (IMLS). Our grant, awarded in 2022 and less than 6 months from completion, was determined to be “...no longer consistent with the agency’s priorities” as have many other arts and culture initiatives nationwide.

This impacts our ability to complete conservation and make Maxo Vanka’s murals last forever. But you can help.

Visiting this place is like visiting an old friend. We're about to start work in the right apse and I was able to take a quick pic before the scaffold returns next week.

Final days leading a team on-site at the University of Pittsburgh's Czechoslovak nationality room. This beautiful classroom was dedicated in 1939 and is adorned with whimsical murals, mounted works on paper and metal medallions. I'm so pleased with the result and so I'm lucky to have the best colleagues and preservation specialists working with me. The team stabilized flaking paint and plaster, cleaned and reinstalled the works on paper, cleaned the medallions, and dusted and retouched the decorative ceiling beams.

Just finished cleaning, inpainting, and revarnishing this beautiful Bierstadt - Farallon Island -1887, a crowd favorite at the Carnegie Museum of Art. I have been a staff member at the CMOA since last November and this painting was one of my first major treatments since joining the conservation lab. What a pleasure it is to see it almost every day.

Maxo Vanka fundraiser last night was a huge success! There were live conservation demonstrations to add to a wonderful program. I love my conservation ladies!
