With the HUGE success of the “MICHAEL” movie ,I would like to take the time to say thank you to my mentor,friend and publicist -Steven Manning,for his contribution to the CULTURE and many of our lives…
*Steve Manning met Michael Jackson in 1970 when he was just 15 and started the Jackson 5 Fan Club.
He ran the fan club from his mother's apartment while working in a mailroom and even gained support from Motown's Berry Gordy.
Invited by the Jackson family, he visited their home in California and became close to Michael and his siblings.
By 1974, Manning was living with the family, acting as their publicist and traveling globally on tour.
He helped the Jacksons through key moments like their switch to Epic Records and Michael's role in The Wiz, and played a part in Michael's solo success with Off the Wall.
Manning later founded his own PR firm, representing artists such as Janet Jackson,the Marley family,the Kardashians,magazines and others. Their friendship lasted over 40 years, with Michael calling him "brother," showing deep trust and loyalty throughout their lives.

Community Leaders and Ceasefire PA Unite with State Rep. Abigail Salisbury to Rally for Violence Prevention Funding

BRADDOCK, PA – In a powerful show of unity, public health advocate Lee Davis, alongside representatives from Cure Violence VIBE, The Wilkinsburg Sanctuary Project, and a coalition of community stakeholders, joined forces with Ceasefire PA for a pivotal strategy session with Pennsylvania State Representative Abigail Salisbury.

The meeting, focused on building a safer future, centered on securing increased state funding for evidence-based violence prevention programs. Davis and the coalition highlighted the critical need to support community-rooted interventions that have proven effective in reducing conflict.

“This was more than just a conversation; it was a commitment to work together,” said Davis. “By bridging the gap between grassroots organizations and our legislative offices, we are building the infrastructure necessary to resolve local concerns and save lives.”

The collaborative group discussed aligning resources to address regional concerns, emphasizing that sustainable peace requires both legislative support and on-the-ground action. Representative Salisbury expressed her dedication to championing these initiatives in Harrisburg, marking a significant step forward in the collective effort to stop violence before it starts.

I was honered to be a guest of the Icon TEDDY RILEY,a musical genius who literally changed the game with his signature sound, New Jack Swing—he hit the Steel City to promote his new book “Remember The Times” that was sponsored by the National Association of Black bookstore Owners and was held at Emerald City Pittsburgh.
I sat front and center as he captivated the room with incredible stories and pulled out his keyboard to play timeless hits from his legendary catalog. Afterward, we caught up on business and a project we’re both connected to. I made sure to congratulate him—not only for his profound impact on the culture but for his ability to stay relevant and continue opening doors for the next generation of hitmakers.

The Department of Human Services (DHS) was honored to celebrate the remarkable dedication and courage of the Allegheny County Community Violence Reduction Initiative (CVRI) workforce. We gathered to recognize their collective impact and extraordinary achievements in making our communities safer.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the inaugural CVRI Awards, which honored individuals nominated by their peers for the unique and powerful ways they lead, contribute, and show up for our neighborhoods.

Among these awards was the Lifelong Champion Award, presented to an individual whose decades of leadership, unwavering commitment, and foundational work have shaped and strengthened the violence reduction movement in our region.

We offer our heartfelt congratulations to Lee Davis, Director of Violence Prevention at Greater Valley Community Services, who received the Lifelong Champion Award.
