When I started Humble Heart Press, I was homeschooling, changing diapers, and building a business in the time between.
Sometimes ten minutes. Sometimes an hour.
I learned to slow down long enough to choose what deserved that time.
For my business, the thing that would move the needle.
For our homeschool, the most important subjects while my children’s attention was best.
For my home, one small area I could actually finish.
Those became my top three. If two got done, I counted it as a successful day.
I still wrote everything else down. (It needed somewhere to live that wasn’t my head. Ew, mental load.)
But the whole list stopped being the thing I graded my day against.
I give these habits a lot of credit for how far we’ve come:
Choose your priorities before the day chooses them for you
Give them your first and best attention.
Be ruthless about busywork. Like, reeaaally ruthless
Make the tasks small enough so you can actually finish. Closing the loop matters.
I really think this helped me keep taking those baby steps forward with the limited time and energy I had in every season.
Does this surprise you?
