This week, teams at our Plainfield and Amherst offices came together to assemble 160 Care Kits for people experiencing homelessness in our communities.

The kits include essential supplies like paper products, a thermal blanket, rain poncho, hand warmers, a can opener, reusable silverware, a first-aid kit, and cleansing wipes. They will be distributed to community members that need them through the new Warming Shelter and Emergency Services program.

October is Employee Ownership Month, and we’ve been talking a lot about what it means to put our ownership into action. This was a small way to give back, help our neighbors, and do something good together!

Special thanks to the United Way of Portage County for helping us identify a need, providing guidance, and coordinating with the organizations receiving the kits to help make this project possible.

OCTOBER IS CYBERSECURITY MONTH

The bad guys want you to react quickly, without thinking. They'll often use scare tactics and urgent calls for action to trick you into giving them your personal or payment information. Don't fall for the bait!

Be sure you know who you're dealing with before you click, call, or share. If something doesn't feel right, slow down and verify it first.

We were a little bummed when we realized Trick-or-Treat would fall on a weekend this year. We look forward to seeing the kids come through every year.

So, now through the end of October, bring your kiddos in to get a FREE Boo Bag with some treats and sweets. No tricks, just a little Halloween fun from your friends at Amherst Communications!

OCT 7-12th: Each spring and fall, the sun aligns directly behind the satellites that deliver television signals across the country. For a few minutes each day, the sun’s energy can interfere with those signals, causing temporary pixelation, audio loss, or a brief service interruption.

This should be short-lived, and no action is needed on your part.

As if on queue to prove a point during CyberSecurity Awareness month, the scammers are at it again. Even if an email looks like it came from a reputable source, always hover over the Sender's name or check the address it came from to confirm it's legit before taking action. Please know we will never ask for your credit card information.
If you're unsure, you're welcome to contact us.

Heads up in case you were planning to stop by tomorrow morning...

Washington, D.C. may be a long way from Central Wisconsin, but having a voice in conversations that affect rural communities is important.

This week, members of our team joined other Wisconsin telecom leaders to talk with Congress about the future of the USF program and what it means for communities like ours.

The bipartisan, bicameral Universal Service Fund (USF) Working Group may be rolling out their recommendations soon. A dedicated group of WSTA members were on Capitol Hill yesterday updating the Wisconsin congressional delegation on this critical issue. USF reforms are needed to ensure that all rural communities continue to have access to high quality, affordable telecommunications service.

2026 FOOD DRIVE!

Now through November, we’ll once again be collecting non-perishable food items and household goods to be donated to the Joseph Hope Food Pantry/ A ministry of New Life Church Plainfield.

Bring 3 or more items to our office and you’ll be entered to WIN ONE of THREE $75 gift cards!

Every can, box, bottle and bag may not seem like much on its own. But put them all together, and pretty soon the shelves are filling up, the pantries are better stocked, and more of our neighbors have a little extra help when they need it!

Employee Owned. Community Driven.
