A well-formulated ration is only as consistent as the forage going into it.

Particle size matters. It influences:
• Packing
• Fermentation
• Feed stability
• Cow sorting
• Rumen function

That's why our nutritionists evaluate chop length and particle size throughout harvest while there's still time to make adjustments. Because once the bunker is packed and covered, those decisions are locked in.

Throughout corn silage harvest, our role is to help producers make better decisions in the field that lead to more consistent forage in the bunk, more consistent feeding throughout the year, and ultimately more consistent performance in the milk tank.

Harvest may only last a few weeks. But we're thinking about how this forage needs to perform for your cows all year long.

Corn silage isn't valuable just because of how many tons you put in the bunker. It's valuable because of how much of those nutrients your cows can actually use.

Kernel processing plays a big role in that.

When kernels aren't adequately processed, we're leaving valuable starch less accessible to the cow and potentially leaving milk and feed efficiency on the table.

That's why our nutritionists evaluate kernel processing while the chopper is still running. We're looking for whole or inadequately processed kernels and giving that feedback to the harvest team in real time.

A processor adjustment made today can influence how that silage performs in the ration for months to come.

That's another way we're working to protect next year's ration and next year's milk production.

Harvest timing isn't about hitting a date on the calendar. It's about capturing the crop at the right point to perform in the ration.

Every day the crop changes:
• Moisture
• Starch availability
• Fiber digestibility
• Fermentation potential

Harvest too wet or too dry, and you're creating challenges that can follow that forage all the way to the feed bunk. That's why our team monitors dry matter leading up to and throughout harvest so decisions are based on what's happening in the field not on assumptions.

Our job is simple: Help protect next year's milk production before harvest is over.
