12 years ago today, I resigned from corporate America to become a stay-at-home mom. 10 years ago today, my sister, Tenley Gummelt, M.A., LPC and I attended our first day of classes to become Licensed Professional Counselors. It seems fitting that today would be the day to officially announce I have opened my own practice!

Learning to focus on your inner peace and what you can control can change how you view and handle difficult relationships. I’ve seen the transformation of clients who have gone down this difficult road and the healing power experienced when they began working on their inner peace instead of trying to change something they can’t control. It isn’t easy work, but it is possible!!

Day 5: How did you resolve your journey?

My husband and I experienced both primary and secondary infertility. We have four angel babies and one miracle rainbow baby. Our resolution to infertility ended with the birth of our daughter; however, the scars of infertility still remain with me many years later. A part of my resolve with infertility included becoming a counselor to help others navigate and heal from their walk through infertility. It is my hope that these scars make me a better counselor for my clients.

Every resolution story has a different ending. Whether it be with the natural birth of one or more children, adoption, embryo adoption, surrogacy or choosing to live child free. Each is valued and important. Keep hope in knowing that their will one day be a resolution to your infertility journey too!
