Electric motors are a common byproduct of equipment upgrades, HVAC replacements, and industrial maintenance. What many don’t realize is the value inside: copper windings and other non-ferrous components.

Instead of discarding them, recycle your motors with Community Recycling and recover that value efficiently.

In recognition of Earth Day, here’s a reminder of how powerful recycling can be!

An aluminum can thrown in a landfill can take up to 500 years to break down. But when it’s recycled, that same can can be processed and back on a grocery store shelf in as little as 60 days.

That’s the real impact of keeping recyclable metals out of the landfill and putting them back into use where they belong. ♻️🥫

Copper is one of the most valuable non-ferrous metals in recycling, and knowing the difference between grades matters.

#1 Copper is clean, uncoated copper with no solder or insulation, while #2 Copper may include coatings, solder, or residue. Both still hold strong value and are accepted at Community Recycling.

We also accept insulated copper wire and have stripping equipment on-site to help maximize recovery. Learn more: https://communityrecyclingplano.com/contact/

As technology advances, data centers are constantly expanding, upgrading, and replacing outdated infrastructure. That growth brings a new challenge: responsible decommissioning.

From UPS systems and backup batteries to server racks and power distribution equipment, these projects require careful coordination and proper recycling practices. Our latest blog takes a closer look at the decommissioning process—from phased shutdowns to on-site material recovery and logistics.

We recently worked on a large-scale data center decommissioning project in our local community.

Our team managed phased material recovery, beginning with battery removal, followed by wire and component recycling once the power shutdown is complete. All materials were processed responsibly, with export shipments coordinated directly from the site.

This is the type of complex, logistics-driven recycling work we specialize in for commercial and industrial partners. If you need a scrap metal recycling partner, contact us: https://communityrecyclingplano.com/contact/
