Latest addition to my necessary supplies...

I'm only 5'1 and the top closet rod in last weekend's closet reorg was much higher than that!

Putting together some client folders with marketing information and any pertinent client documentation (client agreement, planning docs, etc) Not bad for basic teal colored folders and some labels I designed and printed myself!

Last Saturday's closet reorg with a new client referral. Small space and lots of clothing, but we are all pretty happy with the results! I changed out her multicolored hangers to black, hung everything that was not, and assembled two shoe racks. I Got U ORGANIZED!

Had a fantastic day with my friend Marjorie Santos, whipping her bedroom closet into shape!

Mismatched and different sized hangers were changed out for standard black plastic hangers.

Two stackable shoe shelves were added and the original enclosed clear shoe cubbies were placed on top of the new shoe shelves.

Everything that was piled onto the shelves was hung up. All clothing was placed in color blocks with crop tops and short sleeves first, leading to long sleeves and hoodies.

A hanging fabric shelf unit was added for shorts. The finishing touch is a purse organizer that will hold clutches and handbags upright. It will go on the empty shelf above the shoes.

Notice she still has tons of storage room on the top shelf along the back wall!

I was CERTAIN when I recently started my home organization biz that under no circumstances did I ever want to do compulsive shopping/hoarding projects.

Ironically, my very first gig was both. Super sweet elderly woman that deserves a much better environment than she has. So, I really wanted to help her. Her budget is extremely limited, so this was all I could get done in the 4-hour budget today. At least it's something for her.

I STILL don't want to do these types of gigs, though. I am not equipped to provide clients like this with proper psychological care that is needed to stop this cycle.

You'll see three different views with before and after pics of each.

My friend is a German citizen and lives in Berlin. She sent me this pic of a newspaper article about organizing. Looks like it is a valued skill set and helpful there as well!

Here's what my friend said about the article...

"The lead article in the Berlin newspaper today is on how organizing can save a relationship and families because living in a mess is so stressful. With tips from two organizing professionals!"

My website has been in the works for a couple of months. The Free Website Guys are working on it, and yes, it's free. I only had to pay for a year of web hosting through their affiliate, Bluehost, for just $23.88, as well as a one-time lifetime-use fee of $29, for a particular template through another affiliate. Not a bad deal at all!

Looks like they start loading my template TOMORROW!!!

Everything I have read and watched says that the Cardinal sin of organizing is to move or touch something more than once. I agree with that statement 100%. However, I often find that if spaces are small or there is an extremely limited ability to move things elsewhere (into the garage, out into the yard, etc) then you WILL end up touching items more than once.

I proactively explain this to the client and let them know that their project is a work in progress. I also quote the saying about "the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time."

The trick in these types of situations with limited space is to be a strategic as possible about what you are doing with the items temporarily and also to try and move very quickly throughout the project.
