🎀💝October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month🎀💝

But for Texas Star Power, the pink ribbon is much more than a color on a calendar. It is personal.

In August of 2024, our owner, Jennifer Kasprzak, began a journey that no woman ever expects to take and no family is ever truly prepared for, breast cancer.

This photo was taken later that year, as Jennifer was in the midst of chemotherapy. She was standing beside one of our pink Texas Star Power vans, smiling like she always does, even while walking through one of the hardest seasons of her life.

That van was never designed simply to get attention. It was designed to tell a story.

A story of STRENGTH. A story of FAITH. A story of fear, determination, difficult days, incredible doctors and nurses, family, friends, prayer, and continuing to put one foot in front of the other when life suddenly looks very different than it did before.

And most importantly, it carries a message that could save someone’s life:

PLEASE schedule your mammogram. Please do not put it off. Early detection matters.

You may be busy. You may feel perfectly healthy. You may think you’ll get around to it next month or next year. But breast cancer doesn’t care how full your schedule is.

For our Texas Star Power family, this isn’t just something we support during October. We live it. Jennifer’s name is on that van because behind every pink ribbon is a real woman, a real husband, real children, a real family, and a story that changes lives forever.

So this October, when you see one of our pink vans cruising down the road, we hope you’ll think about Jennifer. And then think about your wife. Your mom. Your daughter. Your sister. Your friend. Remind them to get checked.

And ladies, please remind yourselves too. Schedule the mammogram. Make the appointment. Take care of yourself.

From all of us at Texas Star Power, we stand with every woman fighting, every survivor, everyone that we’ve lost, every family walking beside them, and every family remembering someone they love.

We know that unfortunately, electricity has been out in the area for several hours now.

A/C’s are not running, no refrigerators or freezers keeping things cool or frozen. No phones charging.

And CenterPoint Energy has ZERO ETA on full restoration.

Yesterday was the inaugural event for TEN26 Legacy Foundation and it was an amazing turnout!

This special foundation has been in the works for several years and I will never forget when Trey called me and told me what his and Rebekah’s dream was behind starting it. Without ZERO doubt I told T-Rey, I’M IN!

Jennifer and I were honored to be a part of the first, and will be a part of this foundation indefinitely. You guys did an AMAZING job and everything was perfect yesterday! We had a great time supporting a great cause!

We were not first place, but we were definitely not last place yesterday! 🫣😬😂

We love you guys and are here to help any way we can! ♥️

It's dark in our neighborhood right now! Waller has about 4,000 meters out of power currently.

We know how frustrating and stressful it can be when the lights go out, especially when you don't know how long power will be out.

If tonight has you thinking, "We really need to be better prepared for the next one", we'd be happy to help. A power outage isn't just an inconvenience. For some people it can be detrimental to their health and well being.

Stay safe tonight, neighbors. We are praying power is restored quickly!

Update 12:28AM: Power is restored. If you are still without power, please call dispatch center at 979-865-3171.

Update 12:04AM: Power outage is caused by an issue with the transmission line that feeds the substation. SBEC crews are working with the transmission grid operators to re-feed the substation from another transmission line.

Update 10:57PM: This is a LCRA Transmission Level issue. SBEC is working along side LCRA and STEC to find cause of outage and assist in restoration.

Outage 10:38PM: SBEC is experiencing a large outage over around 4,000 meters in Waller County. SBEC crews have been dispatched.

What’s absolutely crazy is if you’re old enough to remember, you’ll never forget where your exact location was when you heard this horrific news.... AND I MEAN NEVER FORGET WHERE YOU WERE!

It was a Tuesday morning in 2001. People of our country reflects a time and place of where we were, what we were doing and who we were with. I remember where I was and exactly what I was doing and some days I don't remember what I did last week. ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!

25, TWENTY FIVE, years ago today, the United States became victimized by 19 terrorists from the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda. Imagine waking up the morning of September 11, 2001 not knowing that you will never see the person you love again because of unpredictable and cowardly acts of terrorist.

Among those who were killed was someone's grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, spouse, sister, brother, daughter, son, cousin, aunt, uncle and friend. You will not be forgotten!

"WHERE CAN I INSTALL MY GENERATOR?"

We get this question ALOT, because there are many companies/individuals that just want to make a quick buck and will install generators wherever they can, to close that deal.

Texas Star Power on the other hand, wants to insure that your generator is installed within code, and most importantly the safest place for you and your family!

Home standby generator clearance requirements:

Clearance requirements help ensure the generator operates at a safe distance where heat and fumes will not cause fires or health hazards. The exhaust gets extremely hot and remains hot after shutdown. Flammable materials may ignite and burn from the heat of the exhaust system. The National Fire Protection Association’s standard for the installation and use of stationary generators. Its requirements limit the spacing of the generator from a structure or wall. The unit must be located where it is readily accessible for maintenance, repair, and first responders. Minimum clearance requirements are for adequate airflow, maintenance, and safety.

-NFPA 37 requirements:

-5 ft. from openings in walls (operable windows, doors, vents, window wells, or other openings in the wall).
-18 in. of clearance from the back of the generator to a stationary wall or building.
-5 ft. of clearance above the generator.
-3 ft. of clearance at the front and both ends of anything combustible. This includes but not limited to, buildings, homes, storage sheds, fences, trees, shrubs, and bushes. Vegetation not in compliance could obstruct airflow, and exhaust fumes could inhibit plant growth. In addition to these requirements, ensure all potential sources of water intrusion are directed away from the generator enclosure: sprinklers, roof runoff, downspouts, and sump pump discharge.
