This Memorial Day weekend, as we honor those who gave everything for our freedom, let’s also protect the lives of those working to keep our roads safe.

Emergency responders, law enforcement, tow truck operators, and roadside crews put themselves in harm’s way every day. When you see flashing lights on the side of the road, Slow Down and Move Over.

It’s not just the law—it’s a simple act that can save a life.

Stay alert. Give space. Get everyone home safely.

Today, our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a fellow tow truck operator. This isn’t just the loss of a worker—it’s the loss of a friend, a family member, and a member of a tight-knit community that understands the sacrifices this job demands every single day.
Being a tow truck operator is one of the most dangerous professions out there. Every time we respond to a call, we’re stepping into unpredictable and often hazardous situations—working on the side of busy highways, in poor weather, at all hours of the night, with vehicles flying by just feet away. One distracted driver, one bad decision, is all it takes to turn a routine call into a tragedy.
We do this job to help others. To get people out of dangerous situations, to keep roads clear, and to make sure families can get home safely. But too often, the risks we take are overlooked or underestimated.
Today, we honor a life lost far too soon. We stand with their family, their friends, and every operator who continues to put on that uniform and answer the call despite the dangers.
Please remember: slow down, move over, and stay alert when you see emergency or service vehicles on the roadside. It’s not just a law—it’s a matter of life and death.
Rest in peace, brother. You will not be forgotten.

Tragic On-the-Job Death Shakes Towing Industry: Tow Truck Operator Raymond Creech Killed When Bed of His Own Truck Falls on Him in Detroit

Detroit, Michigan – April 20, 2026

In a heartbreaking and catastrophic tragedy that has sent shockwaves through the towing community, tow truck operator Raymond Creech was killed Wednesday while working with his own equipment on Detroit’s west side.

According to Detroit Police, the incident occurred in the area of Oakman Boulevard and Grand River Avenue, just outside the Grand River police impound lot. Creech was discovered around 4 p.m. pinned beneath the bed of his own tow truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have described the death as appearing accidental, with no foul play suspected. The investigation remains ongoing.

This is the kind of nightmare every tow truck operator knows can happen in an instant the sudden failure of the very equipment we rely on every day to do our jobs safely. When the bed of your own truck falls while you are right there operating it, working it, trying to get the job done, it is a devastating reminder of how quickly things can go wrong in this line of work.

Tow Truck Operators USA learned of the loss and immediately began a careful, thorough review of every public source official police statements, local news reports from outlets including WWJ Newsradio and Metro Detroit News, and the outpouring of tributes from within the towing community.

We took the time to verify and re-verify every detail before publishing because the men and women in this industry, and the families they leave behind, deserve nothing less than the truth, stated clearly and respectfully.

Through that process, the towing community and family have identified the tow truck operator as Raymond Creech, a father, husband, and grandfather described by those who knew him as someone who loved helping others and was “like a big brother on and off the freeway.” He never backed down from a challenge and was out doing what he loved when tragedy struck.

To Raymond Creech’s wife, his children, his grandchildren, and everyone who called him family we want you to know that the entire Tow Truck Operators USA family is grieving with you. The towing industry stands with you, ready to support you in any way we can.

We also extend our deepest sympathy to the towing company and the fellow operators who worked alongside Raymond. When one of our own is lost while operating his own rig, it hits every crew, every yard, and every operator who climbs into a truck each shift. This loss is felt across the entire industry.

A memorial fund has been set up to help the family. The GoFundMe campaign, titled “In Memory of Raymond Creech’s,” is organized by Michigan SAFETY of Westland, Michigan, with Suzanne Creech serving as co-organizer. As of today it has raised $500 toward an $18,000 goal. Anyone who is able is encouraged to support the family through this fund:

Raymond Creech, you were one of us. You answered the call, you worked the equipment, and you showed up for others every single day. The towing industry will not forget you. We will honor your memory by continuing to look out for one another and by pushing for the safer practices and equipment standards that every operator deserves.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with Raymond’s family, his co-workers, and every tow truck operator who feels the weight of this loss today. We are stronger together, even in our grief.
With deepest sympathy and unwavering support,

Skip the panic and guesswork after a crash—save our number before you ever need it.

Getting into an accident is scary enough. The last thing you should be stressing about is “Who do I call to move my car?”

Here’s why saving our number in your phone matters:
• Instant help: In those first shaken-up minutes, you don’t want to be Googling numbers or reading reviews on the side of the road.
• Clear head, clear choice: When police or strangers offer to “call someone,” you might end up with a random truck and a huge bill. Having your own tow contact means you stay in control.
• Faster response: One tap to call = less time sitting in traffic, in bad weather, or in an unsafe spot.
• Protects your vehicle: A professional towing team knows how to move your car without causing more damage.
• Peace of mind: You already know who’s coming, where they’re taking your vehicle, and what to expect.

Do your future self a favor:
1. Open your contacts
2. Add: “Emergency Tow – SOS Road Rescue
3. Save the number: (920) 358-0192
4. Hit that Favorite button ⭐️
5. Screenshot it and share this post so your friends can do the same.

When the unexpected happens, you shouldn’t have to think—you should just tap. 🚚💨
