This basement we preped the concrete, laid out a very nice design with masking tape, 24 x 24 inch squares with a 12" border, 2" lines between the 24 x 24 squares with masking tape, cut the concrete on each side of the masking tape. Stained the 24 x 24 squares one color, stained the 2" lines a different color and the border a 3rd color, grouted all the cut lines black then clear coated
