I’m amazed every day by how far social media has taken us and the impact it has had on our business.

Peyton Shern and his family recently traveled all the way from Missouri to check out the shop and spend some time talking with us. Peyton is planning to attend diesel tech school and make his way into this complicated industry. It’s always good to see some of the younger generation interested in joining the ranks and learning the trade.

His father, who has owned a business himself, spent quite a while talking with me about where we are as a company, where we’ve been, and where we’re headed. After their visit, they ended up sending me a book called The E-Myth Revisited. I haven’t picked up a book and read it for fun in probably two decades.

It felt like it was written specifically for any technician who ever decided to open their own shop. Nearly word for word, it described the same struggles I’ve dealt with since the first day I opened the doors.

If you own a business, or you’re even thinking about starting one someday, I highly recommend reading it.

Investing in our techs, one Lunch & Learn at a time.

We recently started setting aside one paid hour every week for continuing education. The shop buys lunch, we sit down as a team, and spend an hour going through technical training.

Even Technician Red wrote down a couple things 😎

I can’t wait to have the new shop up, we have space for a break room incorporated into the new shop for things just like this.
