William Salaita has been employed as a Director of Employment and Training and Director of Immigration Department at the Arab American and Chaldean Council, the largest human services organization in the nation since 1986. He contributed significantly to the human, economic and social development of the Arab American and Chaldean community in the State of Michigan. In addition, he was instrumental in developing ACC vision which focuses on assisting immigrants and new comers to the United States of America in achieving their independence and realizing their American dream.
As for his involvement in the community at large, Salaita sits on several organization and association board of directors, i.e. Oakland County Employment Diversity Council, International Visitor Council, American Jordanian University Graduate Association, Detroit Coalition for Responsible Immigration Policy, Jordan Club of Detroit,. President 1995-2001. He was appointed by Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm as a member of the Arab American & Chaldean Governor Advisory Board in 2003 to present time.
Since 1987, Mr. Salaita has been working on a part time basis for various Arab American Media Outlets including MEA formerly known as TV Orient, where he produced a one hour weekly program titled ” Success Story”. From 1991 to 1996 he served as Arabic News Anchor for Channel 62 Detroit. From 1998- 2004 he was a correspondence for the Voice of America currently located in Washington D.C., this radio station is known as SAWA. From 1992 to 1998 he was the correspondent for Arab Network of America (ANA) based in Detroit, Michigan. His writing on Arab American issues appear in the Arab American News A leading Arab American Newspaper in the United States. Since August 2007 to present, Mr. Salaita has been writing weekly articles and interviewing personalities at WNZK- 690AM Radio Program and AMMON-News a popular Jordanian Electronic News Outlet.
Mr. Salaita came to the U.S. in 1979 to pursue his education. He attended Eastern Michigan University and obtained Bachelor Degree in Political Science in 1984. He immediately enrolled in post graduate program, upon which he completed his Master's in Social Work in 1985. Following his graduation, he applied and was accepted to start his doctoral degree in Social Work at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. However, due to work related matters as well as extensive community involvement he decided to postpone this endeavor until favorable circumstances . William Salaita is the host and producer of the live popular Radio Show called Maa Al-jalia (With the Community) aired from WNZK- 690 AM every Tuesday for two hours from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. this program has been ON-THE-AIR since1995.
