MEET THE OWNER | COLBY PRICE

What started with a lawn mower at about 12 years old has turned into an opportunity I’ve worked toward for most of my life.
I’m excited, proud, and incredibly thankful to officially announce that I am taking Price Brothers Excavation & Lawn services FULL-TIME.

For those who may not know me personally, I wanted to share a little about myself, where I came from, the people who helped shape me, and how Price Brothers got to where it is today.

My name is Colby Price and I’ve been around tractors, equipment, four-wheelers, side-by-sides, you name it…since I was old enough to walk. If it had an engine, wheels, or gave me a reason to be outside, chances are I was interested in it. By the time I was about 12, I was already mowing yards for people around the area. Before I could even drive, my mom would load up the truck and trailer with the mowers and drive me from yard to yard so I could mow. Once I finally got my license, I was able to take myself and continued building from there. When I look back now, I realize that those years taught me a lot more than how to mow a yard. They taught me responsibility, consistency, and that if you want something, you have to be willing to work for it.

I owe a lot of that mentality to my family. My parents raised me to understand the value of a dollar, to take pride in my work, and to never expect anything to be handed to me. A huge part of my work ethic comes from watching them. I’ll always be grateful for the foundation they gave me.

I’ve also been fortunate to have grandparents who played a huge role in my life. My Mammie and Bampie have always been two of my biggest supporters. Although my Bampie is no longer here to see this next chapter, I know how much he helped me along the way and how proud he would be to see what all of those years of hard work are turning into. There are lessons, advice, and pieces of him that I’ll carry with me no matter how far this business goes. My Mammie continues to be one of the people I know I can always count on to support and believe in me. I’m extremely thankful for both of them and for everything my entire family has done to help me become the person I am today.

Another person who has been beside me for a huge part of this journey is my girlfriend, Allie. We met in high school during my junior year. She has been there through the long days, late nights, early mornings, weekends spent working. Allie has made plenty of sacrifices herself because of the amount of time and energy I’ve put into work, and she has stuck beside me through all of it. There have been a lot of plans changed, dinners pushed back, and time together given up because there was another job to finish or something that needed done. I owe her a lot for understanding how important this dream has always been to me and for continuing to support me while I chase it. At the end of the day, one of the biggest reasons I work as hard as I do is because I’m trying to build a future for us. I’m thankful to have someone beside me who has believed in what I’m building, even during the times when building it meant she had to sacrifice too. I also owe a huge thank-you to Allie’s family. From the beginning, they have welcomed me, supported me and treated my goals like something worth believing in. Having another family in my corner that genuinely wants to see me succeed is something I won’t ever take for granted.

I graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 2022, where athletics were a huge part of my life. I competed in both football and wrestling, earned West Virginia All-State honors, and was also a member of the National Honor Society. Football and wrestling taught me lessons about discipline, toughness, accountability, and showing up even when things get hard. Those are lessons that I have carried with me directly into the way I approach work and business today. After high school, I attended the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima, Ohio, where I studied diesel technology. While attending UNOH, I participated in Diesel Club and was fortunate enough to receive a SEMA Scholarship for my focus in diesel and heavy equipment, as well as an Ohio Oil and Gas Scholarship.
Receiving the SEMA Scholarship also gave me an opportunity I’ll never forget. I was fortunate enough to fly out to Las Vegas and spend a week at the SEMA Show, surrounded by some of the best builds, equipment, vehicles, businesses, and people in the automotive industry. For someone who had grown up loving anything with an engine or wheels, getting the opportunity to experience something like that firsthand was pretty incredible.
I eventually graduated from UNOH with an Associate’s Degree in Medium/Heavy Vehicle and Truck Technology/Technician.

After college, I went straight to work for a company in the oil field. It was a great opportunity and taught me a lot, but it also helped me realize what I didn’t want long-term. Living on the road and constantly being away from home wasn’t the life I wanted to build for myself.

In June of 2024, I was given the opportunity to get into excavation. Making that change was intimidating. I was stepping into something new and betting on myself, but looking back, it was one of the most important decisions I could have made.

Along the way, one person who deserves recognition is my buddy Daniel, better known as “Woods.” He took me under his wing and taught me a lot about excavation, operating equipment, and the industry itself. I’m thankful for everything he has taught me and for having someone beside me who shares the same willingness to work. A business may have one person’s name listed as the owner, but there are a lot of people, sacrifices, lessons, and helping hands behind that person that most people never see. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in getting me here.

This hasn’t all been rainbows and butterflies, There have been plenty of times when it would have been easier to slow down or give up but I know what I am working toward. I don’t take this opportunity lightly. I’m extremely thankful for every person who has hired me, recommended my name, shared a post, handed out my number, trusted me with their property, given me advice, helped me along the way, or simply encouraged me to keep going. I’m proud of where Price Brothers has come from, but I’m even more excited about where it’s going.

If you have an upcoming project and need excavation, land clearing, grading, drainage, driveway work, site preparation, property maintenance, mowing, landscaping, or other equipment work, I would appreciate the opportunity to earn your business!

Now it’s time to get to work. We are just getting started.
