FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On 6/22/26 at approximately 4:40pm PRFD was dispatched to a dump truck rollover near Sunny Slope Dr in Jette. Upon arrival units found a dump truck pulling a pup trailer (both filled with asphalt) had gone off the roadway and rolled over onto its top. There was asphalt spilled as well as diesel and oil leaking from the truck. The driver was able to self extricate and was transported to the hospital by ambulance to get checked out. PRFD and Lake County OEM remained on scene for approximately 4 hours to assist with traffic control while recovery crews worked to flip the truck back over.

June 16, 10:00am- Ronan, Montana –Wildland fire officials with the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes, Division of Fire have raised fire danger within the Flathead Indian Reservation to MODERATE.

Debris burning with permit is still open, but the DOF urges all outdoor burners to not burn on windy days. Everyone who burns needs to have water on-scene and a tool suitable for throwing dirt on an escaping fire prior to ignition.

This week forecast calls for above normal temperatures in the 80’s. Vegetation is beginning to cure, so please do your part to ensure there is One Less Spark as a result of your outdoor activities in the heat of the afternoon.

● Make sure all trailer chains are secure and try to do farm/ranch activities in the morning before the heat of the day.

● Make sure your campfire is in an established fire ring and not a rock ring.

● Make sure your campfire is out when you leave the area. Use plenty of water and tools to stir up the area. Don’t leave until the area is cool to the touch.

If you have questions or concerns regarding this notice, please contact Division of Fire at 676-2550 or contact C.T. Camel, Fire Management Specialist, at 406-676-2550 ext. 6407 or email: [email protected]

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

6/1/26

Yesterday PRFD crews along with City of Polson Fire Department, Lake County Search and Rescue, and CSKT DES filled over 500 sandbags yesterday and placed them in areas along the Skyline canal and a Minesinger residence in an effort to mitigate flooding. The skyline canal breached the road and was flooding the crop fields near Skyline and Caffrey. Heavy equipment was used to repair the road, and some water was diverted to a different area. The canal has lowered back down for the time being and the repair is holding. We are continuing to monitor the situation.

We have a reserve of filled sandbags and if your home is in danger of flooding we may be able to assist. You can send us a message on Facebook or call the office at 406-883-4244.

We want to thank all the agencies who assisted as well as Glacier Lake Sand and Gravel for getting us sand to fill the bags.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today at 320pm PRFD was dispatched to the report of a burn pile in the White Swan area that was called in as it appeared to be getting away and the caller was concerned with the wind. The first arriving command truck observed a fire burning up a steep slope that was clearly larger then a burn pile. It then quickly grew and started climbing up into trees. Mutual aid was requested from City of Polson Fire Department, Chief Cliff Volunteer Fire Department and QRU, and CSKT Division of Fire. The terrain made access difficult however we were able to lay a lose line up to the fire and begin to extinguish it. It took a lot of manpower to get equipment up the hill and get a line around the fire, and we want to give a huge thanks to all the supporting agencies.

Fire is under control at this time and some work is being continued by division of fire.

Fuels are drying out fast, and we are expecting warm weather to continue this week without a high chance of precipitation. Please be cautious if burning debris.
