On Wednesday August 5th, 2026, at approximately 2:18 PM the City of Polson Fire Department, and the Polson Rural Fire District by Automatic Aid, were dispatched to a report of smoke coming from a garage on the 300 block of 6th Ave West. Arriving units found smoke showing from a detached garage. The fire is believed to have originated on the exterior of the building in the grass and extended into the structure. A quick knockdown by City and Rural fire crews contained damage to a small area on the interior of the building. Fire suppression and overhaul operations continued until 3:30 PM. The fire cause is considered unintentional, and the building sustained minor damage.
In total three fire apparatus and seventeen personnel responded to the scene. No injuries were reported by the residents or firefighters.
