Three Stimpson products made the 2026 InTents Premier Product Showcase. Thank you to InTents magazine and the ATA - Advanced Textiles Association for including us.

The Stimpson 405 Bench Press: In production in the USA for more than 100 years, it sets brass grommets up to #4 and stainless up to #3, with no electricity or compressed air required.
Rolled Rim Grommets & Spur Washers: The spur washer grips the material, and the rolled rim gives a finished look on visible surfaces.

Modular Hand Drive Tooling: Made for field repairs and low-volume work, when the job is away from the shop.
Shop all three at the official Stimpson webstore, webstore.stimpson.com. Order Monday through Friday and enjoy same-day shipping on all orders placed by 3:00 PM E.T.

Today is Manufacturing Day, and we're celebrating the team that keeps Stimpson running.

Stimpson started in 1852 in a 1,500 square foot factory in Lower Manhattan. Today our team works from a 280,000 square foot facility in Pompano Beach, Florida, supplying grommets, washers, eyelets, and the machinery that sets them to fabricators, sign shops, and marine canvas makers.

That work still comes down to skilled people: toolmakers, machine operators, inspectors, and the shipping crew who get orders out the door. Four generations of family ownership later, we're grateful to everyone who built this company and to the team carrying it toward our 175th anniversary in 2027.

To students and career changers exploring manufacturing this month: this is hands-on, precise work that ends up in tents, boats, banners, and safety gear. There's room for you in it.

What got you into manufacturing? Tell us in the comments.

Thank you to ATA - Advanced Textiles Association for featuring us.

Since 1852, our approach has not really changed. Quality first, diversify, and never chase the cheapest sale.

Proud to be going on 31 years as an ATA member.

In business since 1852 and an ATA member for 31 years, Stimpson has seen it all: World Wars, The Great Depression, a pandemic and more.

The company, which makes "the small metal fasteners that hold critical components together and reinforce holes," can attribute its longevity to both diversification and consistency, said Cory Rau, the fourth-generation of his family at the business' helm. They specialize in grommets and washers, with eyelets close behind.

"We've never chased the cheapest sale or the trendiest one," Rau said. At the same time, Stimpson serves several industries: aerospace, military, marine, medical, safety and fall protection, signage and awnings. When one industry slows down, another picks up.

Rau called Stimpson a true "New York story," founded by Edwin B. Stimpson in lower Manhattan near what's now the Brooklyn Bridge, and purchased by Rau's great-grandfather later.

"We're not answering to outside investors who want every last penny of quarterly profit squeezed out," Rau said. That allows the company to invest in quality, both of product and people. Pictured: Cory Rau, courtesy photo
