So this is not uncommon. Went to a garage sale yesterday. I was looking at a computer in a box and before I could determine anything, the sale operator said “You can have that computer”. She explained it was her husbands and she didn’t know anything about it. I asked about the personal data and she didn’t know anything. After considering it she thought it might be a good idea to remove the data. I told her I would recycle the PC and secure her data.

I took the PC and removed the hard drive before I recycled the computer and upcycled the RAM. Don’t let your old computers go without securing your data. It’s incredibly easy to access.

Old Computers are on my mind. I will share what your hard drive possibly looks like in several pictures below. There are a lot of factors with many types of machines (PC's, Laptops etc.) I've attached a good and brief video, but it isn't always this easy. This video and PC are staged for a high level overview. Make sure your data is removed from a device before you donate or sell the item. Phones, laptops, computers, tablets and more all have personal data that can be easily accessed, even if your device is "broken".
I erase or physically remove and erase the data before I recycle or upcycle. I provide this as a free service. Why do I do it for free? because when I get a big enough box of certain computer parts the components get disassembled and physically shredded, and sold to companies that do precious metals recovery. It takes 60 or more PC's for the items to be worth shipping off. 5-10 pounds of certain untested processors, ram, or hard drive parts can bring around $80 dollars or so depending on several factors. I also do this because once a relationship is formed, you may ask for other services that can prove to be more beneficial.
We recycle any broken and unwanted device: Phones, tablets, game consoles, laptops, TV's, and any accessory. We also pick up and utilize local donation centers for many items, that benefit local special needs organizations.
