We hope every one had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Just an update on the winery being open, we can sell by the bottle only, no tasting, no glass sales. Wednesday the 2nd of Dec our customers can buy a bottle and enjoy it on the porch. Until then it is picnic tables only.
There are not a lot of businesses open in the Jemez, but the "Goblin Rocks" are open in our valley for a nice hike. The Christmas Tree hunters have been coming in and the weather has been great. We hope every one is doing well; we will be bottling for the next two Tuesdays; life goes on. Merry Christmas to all.

The Jemez is beautiful and the colors are still bright with the change of the season. Cooler weather is supposed to start this week-end so it is perfect for a picnic. We are under the same rules as the indoor restaurants, tasting and glass sales. A limit of 5 patrons at a time so the chairs and tables on the porch are perfect for watching the birds and clouds. The "Haunted Cemetery" on highway 485 is open through the 31st. As always, please watch your speed. chow.

Ponderosa finally received some rain, and wind and more wind. The tables w/umbrella's and without plus the chairs were all through the vineyard. It did not freeze so it is still beautiful for picnic's and outings. We are finished with our harvest but have maybe 2 more trips for the Deming grapes. The Jemez is very busy on the week-ends, Visitors are coming up and staying in the air B&B's and the camp grounds. Paliza in the local valley is a no reservation camp ground and is being well used. We now have our tasting room open for taste and sales.

We are in the "Dog Days of Summer". We do have picnic tables and sun shades for picnic while watching the grapes grow. The crew have done the green pruning and are putting on the netting for bird protection (we hope). Unfortunately the camp grounds in the Jemez are not all open, some day use are for picnics and the hiking trails are open. The Forest Service request "pack it in and pack it out" to help keep the trails clean. Some of the hikers carry extra bags to help with those that don't. We are open and do have a bathroom available. Hopefully we will get rain soon. The new dog is names "Nana Daisy". Nana because she looks like the Peter Pan dog and Daisy was the name given to her before PVW:)

We are almost at the end of May! No festivals so we decided to bring the Jemez Cherry Blossom to the sales room for our customers. It has been a real success.
Baby Luna is almost as big as Sky with a bigger attitude. They are scheduled for their beauty treatment in Sky' s swimming pool on Thursday and will be beautiful and fluffy for Memorial Day weekend.
We are working on gathering the "Elm Seeds" and spring cleaning of the picnic area. The vines had bud break the first week of May and are about 5" long already and are blooming, it is really beautiful and serene here with the windmill flowing with the breeze. Remember to watch your posted speed limit.
Stay Safe.

Harvest is here. Charles picked up the Freuhuf Trailer on Monday and will deliver grapes to the Northern wineries starting this week. The netting was finished on Sat and the grapes look great. We have the wines ready for the Harvest Festival at Balloon Park and Las Cruces Aug 30, Sep 1 & 2. Picking here will start after Labor Day. We hope to see a lot of you here in the Jemez and at the festivals. I picked up Luna, Great White Pyr yesterday, she is great.

Memorial Day Weekend - The Winery will be open on Sat and Sunday. The camping here in the Ponderosa Valley is first come first camp, no reservations. The weather is supposed to be spectacular, we are participating in both wine festivals, Albuquerque and Las Cruces .The Pueblo is sponsoring their annual "Red Rocks Festival". They host vendors from all over the US. It is a special treat.

According to the Scholars,
Easter is the first Sunday after the Paschal full moon; ie The first full moon following the Vernal Equinox letting the sun crosses the Celestial Equator. We have bud break here at the vineyard and are turning green. I am not sure how green we will be for the Plein Air Painters, but they do have the green in the paints. Blooming will begin in a week or two. I rained this week-end and that is a big help for the crop.

I tried to down-up load a picture of Brodie, he has crossed the rainbow bridge as of the 17th of March. He was doing what he liked, chasing a very large Jack Rabbit. The home is empty even with the other three dogs here. Spring is trying to arrive and the pruning is ongoing. Having sunshine when we go home is very nice.

The crew is working on Spring pruning. The wind is a factor so they are in the Bodego labeling for the upcoming year. We have the Rose on special for Valentines and we are thankful for the increase of daylight. Winter gets so dark so early, yea. We hope to see you when you visit the Jemez.

We have snow drifts 3 foot deep thanks to the winds of Sat, Sun and Monday. The fur babies loved it even at 1 am. Sandoval County sent the sand trucks up the road twice a day for hi-way 290 so there was traffic going and coming. I have not heard any complaints being that we need the moisture; my ? is how long before it inhibits the grasshopper crop for 2019? It is a perfect time for some wonderful red wine.:)
