It's week 2 of high school football! Tonight, the Poplar Bluff Mules are on the road and will face the Chaminade Red Devils!

Our video broadcast starts at 6:20 pm and kickoff at 7 pm. Tune in this week for Mules Trivia as we have not one BUT TWO gas cards to give away courtesy of Barker's Towing & Auto Repair!

Things to know for tonight's game...

Tonight will be the 7th meeting between the two schools. The Mules last beat the Red Devils 14-12 in 2024. Poplar Bluff is 1-5 all time in the series. Chaminade is coming off a 41-21 win over Marquette last Friday, while Poplar Bluff lost its season opener to Jefferson City 32-22.

We had a great night at the Bootheel Tractor Pullers Pull last night at Ray Clinton Park here in Poplar Bluff!

Barker’s Towing & Auto Repair was proud to be a Presenting Sponsor and help support an event that brings so many people together for a great night of pulling and family fun.

We also had the honor of putting a couple of our trucks out on the track and flying Old Glory. 🇺🇸 There’s just something about seeing that flag flying behind a wrecker that never gets old!

Thank you to the Bootheel Tractor Pullers, everyone who helped put the event together, and everybody who came out and supported it.

It’s pretty exciting to see this truck roll back onto Barker property after being gone for so many years!

This truck was used by Jerry & Allen Barker back in the 1980s. They later sold it to the late Rocky Ice. After Rocky’s passing, Bill Ice kept the truck all these years and would always tell me that one day he would sell it back to me.

With Bill and Rocky both being longtime family friends, I always hoped that day would come.

After Bill’s passing, Jeaane Snow recently made it possible. She felt like the truck would be in good hands with me and that I would bring it back to life. I’m very thankful she gave me the opportunity to bring a piece of Barker history back home.

For me, this one is personal. I (Vernon Barker) rode many miles in this rig when I was a kid—and I can promise you, I won a whole bunch of imaginary races sitting in that seat! 😂🏁

Now, after all these years, it’s back where so many of those memories started.

BACK TO SCHOOL — PLEASE SLOW DOWN & PAY ATTENTION!

Many area schools are heading back to school today and throughout the week, which means our roads are about to get a lot busier in the mornings and afternoons.

Please be extra careful:

🚌 Watch for school buses and be prepared to stop.

🚸 Slow down in school zones and watch for children crossing the road.

👀 Stay alert around bus stops—kids can be unpredictable and may step into the roadway.

📵 Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road.

⏰ Give yourself a few extra minutes so you aren't in a hurry.

After a summer without the daily school traffic, it's easy to get out of the routine.

Barker’s Towing & Auto Repair responded to a rolled-over dump truck here in Poplar Bluff.

After a careful recovery, we were able to get the truck back upright with minimal damage and get the pasture cleaned up.

And for everyone wondering… the driver AND the cows in the pasture were all safe! 😂🐄

We even checked with our local expert… ROOfus the Kangaroo who approves! 🦘😂 After everything he’s been through, we figured he’d appreciate us making sure all the animals were accounted for!

Another successful recovery and another example of being prepared for whatever kind of call comes our way.

🍦 ROUND TWO WITH THE ICE CREAM TRUCK! 🍦

Well... after the first trip out, we knew we had some catching up to do! 😂

Today, John and I hit the road again, making stops at more of our customers, businesses, first responders, and friends around the community that we didn't get a chance to visit the first time.

And I can officially confirm what I learned on Day 1: EVERYBODY loves seeing the Ice Cream Truck pull up! 🤣🍦

There's just something about handing someone an ice cream that instantly puts a smile on their face—and we had just as much fun giving them out as everyone did getting them.

At Barker's Towing & Auto Repair, we're extremely thankful for the customers, first responders, local businesses, and people throughout our community who support us every day. This is just a small and fun way for us to get out, say THANK YOU, and hopefully make somebody's day a little better.

And if we still haven't made it your way... don't give up on us yet! 👀🍦

Friday morning, Barker’s Towing & Auto Repair responded to a tractor-trailer rollover at the intersection of State Highway 53 & State Highway 51 in Qulin, Missouri.

The tractor-trailer was loaded with nearly 40,000 lbs. of block cheddar cheese, making this a recovery that required the right equipment, a solid plan, and a great team.

We want to give a HUGE shout-out to our crew! 💪

In just a few short hours, our team was able to unload the cargo, upright the tractor-trailer and recover all of the cheese while working together safely and efficiently.

👏 GREAT JOB, TEAM!

Having the BEST TEAM, the RIGHT EQUIPMENT, and a CAN-DO ATTITUDE is what gets the job done when the big calls come in.
