When we answer the call, we know we may be walking into the worst day of someone’s life. Our goal is always to save lives but it goes beyond that.

Sometimes, it’s about saving the things that can't be replaced. This freezer was an example of just that. In Thursday mornings fire, a mother stood on the road and asked for her breast milk to be saved. So our guys did just that. Once deemed safe to do so they pulled this chest freezer from the house and set it in the drive way. Melted shut but still frozen inside. To most people, it may look like just another appliance. But to this family, that freezer held something priceless their child’s food, time, love, and countless hours of sacrifice.

Our firefighters worked to protect not only the structure, but the belongings and memories that mattered most to this family. Because property protection matters.

We may not always be able to save everything. We may not always know what something means to the people we are serving. But we will always do everything within our ability to protect what we can.

This is one of the reasons we train, respond, and do what we do.

To our firefighters thank you for understanding that the job is about more than fighting fire. It’s about people, their lives, their homes, and the things that mean the most to them.
