On October 14, 2026, at approximately 7:34 a.m., Pearl River County Fire & Rescue District 4 was dispatched to I-59 near mile marker 25 for a motor vehicle accident involving injuries and entrapment.

Firefighters from District 2 and Poplarville Fire Department also responded to assist with additional personnel and apparatus to support extrication efforts.

We want to thank the Pearl River County Board of Supervisors, Pearl River County Emergency Services, Pearl River County E-911, AAA Ambulance Service, Poplarville FIRE Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol, and Pearl River County Sheriff's Department who responded for their assistance and support throughout the incident.

On October 13, 2026, at approximately 2:40 p.m., Pearl River County Fire & Rescue District 4 was dispatched to I-59 near mile marker 35 for a motor vehicle accident involving injuries and entrapment.

Firefighters from the Poplarville Fire Department also responded to assist with additional personnel and apparatus to support extrication efforts.

Brush fire season is upon us once again!

Pearl River County Fire & Rescue asks everyone to take precautions when burning outdoors:

- Check for burn bans and restrictions.
- Avoid burning on windy or dry days.
- Clear flammable materials from around your burn pile.
- Keep water and firefighting tools nearby.
- Never leave a fire unattended.
- Make sure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving.

Today, the Mississippi State Fire Academy held its Line of Duty Death Ceremony, honoring the firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

Today, one of our own, Billy Creel, was among those memorialized.

Pearl River County Fire & Rescue will always remember Billy for his service, his dedication, and his commitment to protecting others. His sacrifice will never be forgotten, and his name will forever remain a part of our department’s history.

Today, we pause to remember Billy, honor his service, and keep his family, friends, and fellow firefighters in our thoughts.

Rest easy, Billy. Your service is remembered. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

At this time I-59 has opened back up.

One lane of traffic has reopened. Please use caution while traveling through the area.

10/04/2026 10:45 A.M.
The northbound lane of I-59 at Mile Marker 41 is currently shut down. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route of travel and use caution in the area. We will update once the interstate reopens.

On September 27, 2026, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Pearl River County Fire & Rescue District 4 was dispatched for mutual aid to Hancock County for a structure fire.

Firefighters from Pearl River County Fire & Rescue Districts 2, 4, and 5 responded, bringing additional personnel and apparatus to assist with fire suppression efforts.

We want to thank the Pearl River County Board of Supervisors, Pearl River County E-911, and the Pearl River County Fire personnel who responded for their assistance and support throughout the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Hancock County Fire Marshal's Office.
