Honoring the Standard: Captain Ken Franks
True leadership isn't always about being liked—it’s about being respected and doing what is right.

Captain Ken Franks was a man of immense impact, recognized across the state of South Dakota for his discipline and his dedication to the Oglala Lakota Nation.
When Ken helped restructure OSTDPS, he brought a level of accountability that changed our community for the better. His famous seat belt initiative wasn't just a policy; it was a life-saving movement. He held everyone to a high standard because he knew the stakes were lives.

As we celebrate Captain Ken Franks Day, we carry his legacy of integrity forward. Let’s make the habit of safety a permanent part of our lives:
Wear your seatbelt.
Use your child safety seats.

He worked to keep us safe. Let’s stay that way in his honor.

“Happy Captain Ken Franks Day”
