What's New Wednesday 🔨

This week, we're excited to share the start of the first BOLEH (Built On Lot Engineered Home) being constructed at the BIC as an in-house model!

The home will be built using a cassette construction method, with the first cassette serving as the MEP module (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing). This design centralizes key building systems, allowing plumbing and other utilities to run efficiently through the core of the home.

This has been a long time coming, and we're excited to finally begin a project that will help provide a solution to today's housing challenges!

One of the coolest parts of CRTC are the people who work here. Innovation and creativity are encouraged, and we get to see the results firsthand.

Recently, some of our team members used leftover materials (that would have otherwise gone to waste) to create functional products perfect for the outdoors. Handcrafted rocket stoves, welded from leftover Barracks material and paired with wood from our facility, make for an efficient camping tool. We also have two custom planters available for sale, crafted from culled wood. These projects highlight what’s possible with a little ingenuity.

Fort Greely, AK, officially has its Arctic Barracks! Members of our team traveled north to be on-site and help instruct the build. Made from thermally modified Coastal Western Hemlock, the barracks, or you'll see us refer to it as the BHut, was transported in two containers and transformed into a stable, fully insulated living space.

The Arctic Barracks are built to withstand harsh environments and are designed for durability and long term strength. In the coming months, the structure will be tested in extreme conditions to ensure it meets the demands of its environment.

In March, the BHut will be transported from Fort Greely and installed elsewhere on a triodetic foundation, a foundation engineered for stability. Stay tuned for updates!
