Phone pop-ups? Think it’s a virus? Don’t tap. 📱🚨

This month’s Tech Tip Tuesday is running a little later than usual — I’ve been busy helping with Shipley Center [Sequim Senior Services] — but this one is important.

If your phone suddenly says:
“Virus detected!”
“Your phone is infected!”
“Call this number!”
“Install this cleaner app!”

Pause before tapping anything.

A lot of these scary warnings are designed to make people panic. Sometimes it’s not a real phone virus at all — it may be a fake pop-up, a bad app, a sketchy website notification, or a scam trying to get you to call fake “support.”

Quick rule:

Don’t tap.
Don’t call.
Don’t install.
Don’t give remote access.

Scammers love panic. We prefer calm.
Coming soon for this month’s Tech Tip Tuesday.

Phone calls or texts acting weird? Before you restart everything or toss your phone into a shrub… try this first. 🌿📱

This week’s Tech Tip Tuesday is a simple one:

Turn Airplane Mode ON
Wait 10 seconds
Turn Airplane Mode OFF

That’s it.

This can help refresh your phone’s connection when calls, texts, signal, or mobile internet are acting up.

Good news: it won’t erase anything. No photos lost, no contacts gone, no “oops, I broke the internet” moment.

Save this one for later — and share it with someone who gets nervous changing phone settings.

Still acting up? Call FixIT.

Before you click it, call FixIT.

Clicked something bad? Here’s how to check safely.

Hey neighbor — Damien from FixIT here.

Today’s Tech Tip Tuesday walks through one of my favorite free ways to check your computer for malware after a suspicious click: Malwarebytes.

I also explain the part that confuses a lot of people:

The 14-day trial is for the upgraded features — not the basic free scan tool.

So no, you do not need to panic-buy anything like it’s the last loaf of bread before a snowstorm. 😄

Just make sure you download it from the official site only: malwarebytes.com

And remember:

Call FixIT before you click it.

Ever click something and immediately think… “Uh oh”?

Next Tuesday’s Tech Tip Tuesday is for that exact moment.

I’ll be showing one of my favorite free ways to check your computer for malware after a suspicious click — without getting talked into upgrades, trials, or extras you don’t need.

Because yes, free can still mean free. Shocking concept, I know. 😄

Around here, we’ve got a simple rule:

Call FixIT before you click it.

Watch for the video next Tuesday.
