Phone calls or texts acting weird? Before you restart everything or toss your phone into a shrub… try this first. 🌿📱

This week’s Tech Tip Tuesday is a simple one:

Turn Airplane Mode ON
Wait 10 seconds
Turn Airplane Mode OFF

That’s it.

This can help refresh your phone’s connection when calls, texts, signal, or mobile internet are acting up.

Good news: it won’t erase anything. No photos lost, no contacts gone, no “oops, I broke the internet” moment.

Save this one for later — and share it with someone who gets nervous changing phone settings.

Still acting up? Call FixIT.

Before you click it, call FixIT.

Clicked something bad? Here’s how to check safely.

Hey neighbor — Damien from FixIT here.

Today’s Tech Tip Tuesday walks through one of my favorite free ways to check your computer for malware after a suspicious click: Malwarebytes.

I also explain the part that confuses a lot of people:

The 14-day trial is for the upgraded features — not the basic free scan tool.

So no, you do not need to panic-buy anything like it’s the last loaf of bread before a snowstorm. 😄

Just make sure you download it from the official site only: malwarebytes.com

And remember:

Call FixIT before you click it.

Ever click something and immediately think… “Uh oh”?

Next Tuesday’s Tech Tip Tuesday is for that exact moment.

I’ll be showing one of my favorite free ways to check your computer for malware after a suspicious click — without getting talked into upgrades, trials, or extras you don’t need.

Because yes, free can still mean free. Shocking concept, I know. 😄

Around here, we’ve got a simple rule:

Call FixIT before you click it.

Watch for the video next Tuesday.

If a scary virus pop-up appears on your computer, don’t click anything.

Hey neighbor — Damien from FixIT here.
These fake virus warnings are designed to scare you into clicking, calling a number, or giving someone access to your computer.

In this video, I walk you through what to do, what not to do, and how to slow things down before it gets worse.

Around here, we’ve got a simple rule:
Call FixIT before you click it.

If you’re ever unsure, I’m always happy to take a quick look.

If reading your phone has gotten harder lately… this'll make your day a whole lot easier.

If you’re holding your phone way out here just to read a text… this tip is for you.

Hey neighbor — Damien from FixIT here.
Most of the time, tiny phone text is an easy fix.

Go to:
Settings > Display > Text Size
Then slide it up until it feels right.

You can also look for Display Zoom if you want things even bigger.

No shame, no squint Olympics, no microscope required. 😄

If you want help setting it up, give me a call. And share this with someone who needs it.

“This could be your grandchild’s voice… and it might be a scammer.”

🚨 TECH TIP TUESDAY – GRANDPARENT SCAM ALERT 🚨

Hey neighbor — Damien from FixIT here.

Scammers are now using Artificial Intelligence to clone voices.
That means someone could call you sounding exactly like your grandchild saying:

“Grandma, I’m in trouble. I need money right now.”

Even worse… scammers can make the call look like it’s coming from your family member’s phone number.

If this ever happens, remember the FixIT Golden Rule:

📞 Hang up and call your family member directly using the number you already have saved.

If it’s real, they’ll confirm it.
If it’s fake, you just saved yourself thousands of dollars.

These scams target grandparents because they are kind and generous people. Let’s make sure kindness doesn’t get exploited.

If you ever get a suspicious call, text, or email — feel free to call FixIT.
I’d rather you double-check than lose a dime.

Stay safe, neighbors ❤️

Hello neighbor ❤️ Damien with FixIT Computer & Tech.

Today I’m out doing Valentine deliveries—chocolates, flowers… and the occasional rescue mission for technology that’s been breaking hearts. 😄

Hope your day is full of love, laughter, and devices that actually behave.

Happy Valentine’s Day, friends 🌹🍫

What’s one tech thing you wish someone would explain in plain English?

I’m the Sequim Safety Fair representative for online safety and scam awareness, and I’m putting together a FREE, in-person community seminar at Shipley Center (Sequim Senior Services).

I’ll set aside time at the end to cover whatever basic tech questions you want answered — phones, email, texts, passwords, Wi-Fi, or anything else that’s been bugging you.

I’m using this post to help shape that part of the class.

So… I just got off the phone with Santa. 📞🎅

Turns out the elves accidentally unplugged the router again while wrapping HDMI cords like candy canes.
Mrs. Claus’s phone won’t stop dinging with 99 notifications…
…and Rudolph’s GPS is still “recalculating.” 🦌📍

Long story short — I’m now officially the Tech Support for the North Pole. 😉💻

If your gadgets are acting more Grinchy than jolly, I can help!
Let’s make sure your Wi-Fi, passwords, and streaming setups behave better than Santa’s this year.
