One More Push Needed for Bill to Allow Liquor Store Purchases

As the legislature heads into their final days of session our bill to allow restaurants & taverns to make purchases from liquor stores is on the verge of passing the State Senate. They passed the bill last year, included it in their budget proposal earlier this year, and the bill is on the Senate floor calendar ready to be voted on at any time.

The bill is not as far along in the Assembly but is picking up steam. We've added 15 co-sponsors in the past two weeks, demonstrating growing support for the proposal. We need one more push to expand our sponsors and urge our friends to speak up on our behalf, so the Assembly leadership knows that it's important.

According to Spectrum News, the bill is facing pushback from wholesalers trying to prevent a vote in the Assembly. We need to ask Members of the Assembly to put small businesses ahead of the wholesalers.

Business owners may now access their Renewal Advisory online. The Liquor Authority is making the advisories available online to expedite the renewal process and to avoid problems with mail delivery. The Authority posts a PDF file online each month with all of the renewal advisories for that month. The instructions for applying for a renewal using the PDF file are posted on the SLA website. The Liquor Authority will continue mailing renewal advisories to the premises address on file. Please communicate with your attorney/representative to ensure you do not submit multiple renewal applications and checks.

Drinks to Go Extended until 2030. The Assembly and Senate completed adoption of the state budget last week before heading home for a two week break. The final state budget includes an extension of drinks-to-go until 2030

For those new applicants that are having problems scheduling your Fingerprint Appointment the following notice was recently posted by the Liquor Authority:

What do I use for my ID number when getting fingerprinted by Identogo?

Applicants receiving a new Application ID number should use the last 7 digits of your new Application ID number when requesting to be fingerprinted.

Example: For an Application ID of NA-5555-22-112233 The applicant would enter 2112233 for scheduling.
