Did you know mosquito fish help control mosquitoes by eating their larvae?

Mosquito fish are small freshwater fish with a big appetite for tiny aquatic organisms—including mosquito larvae developing in the water. Because of this, they can help reduce mosquito populations in suitable ponds and other bodies of water.

They may be tiny, but they're natural little mosquito hunters! 🐟

Would you have guessed a little fish could help with mosquito control?

Seeing Scorpions Around Your Home?

Scorpions are experts at finding sheltered hiding places. Around homes, they may tuck themselves beneath rocks, wood piles, landscaping materials, or other dark, protected areas—and occasionally find their way indoors through small cracks and openings.

One of the most common species in Texas is the striped bark scorpion, and although its sting can be painful, it is generally not considered medically dangerous to most healthy adults.

A few ways to make your home less inviting:

• Seal cracks and gaps around doors, windows, pipes, and the foundation.
• Keep firewood and debris away from the house.
• Reduce clutter in garages and storage areas.
• Check shoes, gloves, or other items that have been left outside before using them.

🦂 Have you ever found a scorpion inside your house?

Fun Fact Friday!

Despite their name—and the way they seem to show up everywhere in pairs—lovebugs don’t bite or sting!

Adult lovebugs are harmless to people and pets. Those pairs you often see flying around attached to each other? They’re mating, which is how lovebugs earned their memorable name. ❤️

Lovebugs may be annoying when they cover your car or windshield, but they're more nuisance than threat.

Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know fire ants can work together to survive floods?

When rising water threatens their colony, fire ants can link their bodies together to form a living raft. The colony—including the queen—can float on the water until the ants reach dry ground or the floodwaters recede.

Thousands of ants may join together, using their interconnected bodies to trap air and help keep the colony afloat. Pretty amazing teamwork for such tiny insects!

🌧️ And one important reminder: Never touch a floating fire ant raft. The ants can quickly swarm onto anything they come in contact with.
